Sailor Moon, Star Wars

Sailor Moon: 

The fucking endless manga v 90s anime thing. 

Now with shiny new Crystal edition! That is so totally different from the arguments the fandom had when PGSM first came out, really! SO different! Not at all the same arguments about quality or characterization or not being like the 90s anime or anything! Good thing we are long past the gross gross gross parody subs I used to find back then, because they’d label them like normal fansubs for PGSM and I’d wait forever for it to download on my old old bittorrent program and then open it to find bad jokes about how unattractive and out of character everyone found everything. Bonus for the fact I was 13 - 14 years old when that was coming out and had no warning about the really gross jokes on those subs that were tearing into and attacking the actress’ appearances, making crude sex jokes about them, and the like. To be 100% frank and honest, a lot of the conversation around crystal reminds me of that and throws me back there and is just very toxic and kind of triggering for me because it brings me back to being 13 years old and trying to enjoy PGSM as the entire fandom decided it was a true evil? That is why I really don’t talk much about Sailor Moon anymore, period.

Star Wars: 

Force Awakens is ~totally the same as~ the entire OT!!!!! 

Most everything about Kylo Ren too. I am too exhausted to rehash any of it.

Oh! ~~~~Even though I have not given it a chance or started it, I know the new EU sucks and is just SJW nonsense. Let me tell this to the new EUs authors directly and make youtube videos about how much I hate them all because they are all SJWs!!!~~~~ (if any of you are curious the PR guy for the group who did that billboard made a video specifically to mock and bash the author of Aftermath for including a gay character in the main cast and having so many women in the main cast as well. It seems that he has since taken it down.) For further context there is this blog post the author of Aftermath made.

Also one of the writers on the Japan Times mentioned that just like in most countries, many of the people in creative fields tend to be more left leaning, so she pointed out that just because there are cartoons with gay or lesbian characters doesn’t mean that’s a commonly accepted societal attitude.

Aw, thank you for offering! No, a lot of it is work I should have done a while back and just haven’t done. And it’s crunch time and I’m missing deadlines and it’s pretty stressful and it’s all stuff I should have done on my own.

Ah, okay, thank you! I thought it was a tongue-in-cheek ‘I dislike this character so much, I jokingly censor their name on my blog’ sort of thing, but then I started noticing it on posts criticising Ky/lo Ren and his stans especially, so I was like, hmmmmm.

Thanks! I always thought that as long as a post wasn’t tagged, it was safe from stans, unless they really mined someone’s tumblr personally, but it didn’t occur to me that as long as the name appears somewhere in full, it could still be searchable.

And lol, re: Tony the ultimate feminine-coded male hero, like, I cannot think of a superhero that macho dudebro neckbeard nerds would uphold as their personal role model and inspiration as much as Tony, and he’s like the epitome of toxic masculinity for me, especially for someone who’s supposed to be a hero. I could even buy Lok*i as feminine-coded to some degree, but like, not really, and I’m kind of done with Loki stans after they also argued he was a man of colour because he’s blue, so he’s POC representation -_____-*

I am 100% behind male characters who are feminine-coded and would like to see more of them (and not as the butt of jokes), but Tony isn’t one of them, and his stans should stop co-opting social justice concepts for groups he’s not part of to defend him from any criticism at all.
