He had dreams that go beyond this small, cold, and lonely island. He wanted to leave; he HAD to leave. But that meant leaving Louis... Harry is a lonely and depressed pop star who sailed out of his hometown on Eroda years ago to chase his dreams. He comes back to the island only to find his shining childhood best friend Louis just as cold and dreary as the island they grew up on.

Still, the peculiar boy from Eroda set sail on an odd-numbered day and, without knowing it, headed straight into the OFMD universe. While being held captive aboard the pirate ship Revenge, the boy meets a fisherman named Louis. Tasked by the captain to teach the reluctant boy to fish, Louis struggles to hide his frustration and hold his tongue. As difficult as it was to deal with this clumsy stranger, the skilled fisherman had worse assignments and more unpleasant partners, but none of them with a smile as bright as this peculiar boy had. A moment of unexpected distress catches them off guard, and both soon find out it’s much easier to catch feelings than fish.

OR: Where the Adore You music video ends and the Our Flag Means Death story begins.

🐟 the marmonton hotel (15K) by jaerie // @jaerie For several months, The Marmonton Hotel had been dark. Harry walked past it on his way home and knew they had closed their doors pending some major structural repairs that needed to be made to continue to operate commercially. The last Harry heard, the owners were thinking of tearing it down, which Harry thought was a shame. Each night he looked at the building and thought about everything it had witnessed over the long history of the town. It stood over and watched generations of celebrations and tragedies.

One night, in the light of the moon, he looked up to see a figure standing in the vacant hotel. The emotion in the eyes of the stranger was too tangible for his brain to conjure it up, a mix of fear and shock that Harry couldn’t place. He looked conflicted about being seen, hovering in the space just out of full view, but not so much that Harry thought the man had broken in. It wasn’t that type of feeling.

The next night he returned, and this time, he was pulled to walk in. He finds more than he was expecting, and an unexpected history lost to time.

The drama, the angst, the deep existential loneliness and then the reprieve, the sweetness and the caring. This is just fantastic!

The sequel to Gem and the Hunters: The Treasure of Babylon, this fic has even more of what I loved in the first fic. There are more sweet moments, more romance, and more action! Not a fic to be missed.

Some Changes to FYMHM

A message from @evilovesyou

It’s been brewing for a while, and we’ve finally come to the conclusion that the way FYMHM works currently is not sustainable for us as a team anymore, especially considering that some of us are going to be leaving the team.

Some of you know how much this project means to me and how hard I wanted it to work because it was our late friend Lynda‘s brain child and for such a long time it was something that was just between her, @reminiscingintherain and I.

We debated going on a hiatus, but we’ve decided to keep up the spirit and idea that started this project and make it more effortless for everyone. We won’t be doing monthly recs, but we will rather reblog the fics we recommend and add out rec text to the reblogs whenever we have time. That way we can still keep up our tagging system and you all can still find under-appreciated fics on this blog!

There won’t be a schedule, but we will be loosening the rules as to which fics we want to recommend. We will stick to fics with low hit counts and few kudos and comments, but we won’t be as strict about their stats anymore.

In doing this, we will also happily accept asks with recommendation texts and applications to join the blog as a mod.

I’m looking forward to this new era of FYMHM and I hope you all join us for the ride 🥰

It just rams home how he doesn’t belong.

This is a lovely fic for anyone who has ever questioned whether they are queer enough to belong in the queer community. You are, and this fic will remind you of it whenever you need it.

An adorable, cozy meet-cute between a couple and a stranger, this fic has so much goodness in so few words. From the struggle of pregnancy cravings to the unexpected pleasure of finding people who will accept you as you are, it’s a fun little roller coaster you don’t want to miss.

Absolutely adorable! Friends pining on each other is always such a nice trope to read. Seeing the development of their relationship was really cute, and this fic is more than worth a shot, considering Niall’s special additions.

Louis is the son of King Tomlinson, and now that he's older, he's interested in learning horseback riding. King Tomlinson assigns Harry, the kingdom's stable boy, to train him. It's love at first sight for Louis, and this wouldn't be a problem if being gay wasn't wrong in the kingdom.

This fic is a little heartbreaking, considering how Louis' own family might reject him for something he doesn’t have a choice in, however it was extremely cute how Harry, Zayn and Liam were there to always protect Louis.

They fit together so well and to read about a pure love, as simple as it sounds, is more than enough to make you happy – even more if you get yourself some chocolate!
