Finally revisited the Elektra redesigns I made like 2 years ago.  As I said in that previous post, I asked @mattelektras for help with Elektra’s character and her design over the years in particular; she gave me so much information and insight so thank you, again, Jessie!  I remembered her headcanon where Elektra is Greek-Japanese (given how much her creators were inspired by/appropriated Japanese culture when developing her lore/arc) and I love this idea.

Taking this headcanon into account, I decided to incorporate motifs and silhouettes from both traditional Japanese and Greek culture (as seen below):

These are just two of many other potential design ideas that can be done and I hope to get more drawn up.  The one thing I regret is not giving the centre design her trademark cap because I can see that’s a pretty common thing to wear among Greek women so I’ll try and make a full body sketch with that cap but overall I’m pretty happy with that design idea the most with either the cap or the scarf wrap I gave her and I hope you are, too!

You know how the go to like aesthetic for Wanda is goth in some of her portrayals? I know Lorna has also been given that same aesthetic in that Gifted show but I'm wondering what you think of that common direction they take with these characters and would you rather they do something different? How would you like to see characters like Wanda and Lorna portrayed if not with that grungey/goth look?

DIFFICULT because i love the fashion n the looks that ive seen them in but in regards to wanda i dont particularly think that style fits her?? shes mature and like. less interested in being up to date w the Trends. she’s more a wear whats comfortable type?? i see her in lighter, flowy materials???? she seems like a kaftan kinda gal. or just like. shawls. long shift robes?? idk jsut like. cool hippie aunt vibes. she’s been through some shit she just wants to chill in a poncho. BUT i also think when she has to be more professional, she’s more tailored w like long fitted coats and cigarette trousers w some heels. like in her recent solo. im torn between the two.

i do feel it for lorna more tho. maybe not gothic but like. 90s grunge is the vibe she gives me. her looks in xfactor right now are exactly what i envision for her. she’s a little edgier and more casual since she has no avengers to impress. and also naturally green hair is just something you gotta roll with. also not even like. fashionable grunge. just clothes that clearly dont fit or match and should probably have been thrown out 2 months ago

My second attempt at a ZATANNA redesign. I was looking back at my previous redesign from a few years back and was inspired to revisit it.

I love her classic fishnets design and it looks great onstage but I feel like she should be able to change into something more practical/protective/less sexualised when the time comes to defend the world. Simultaneously, I wanted her new look to still be stylish while maintaining her iconic magician aesthetic, a uniform befitting of the skilled homomagi that she is.

I'd love to see her portrayed by a Romani/Jewish actress (as she is canonically in the comics) but if Hollywood execs were to ignore this important aspect of Zatanna's character (would not be surprising), I'd love to see Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani play the role.

Speaking of X-23 and the looks she's sported not fitting her, are there any artists who have given her a good design? The only ones I can think of is her introductory look in X-Men: Evolution and that warm up redesign by Kris Anka with the cute bangs and orange look that is also very Wolverine's Evolution look

the orange anka look was the first thing that came to mind!! i like her in oranges and yellows a lot because theyre logan’s colours but not EXACTLY his??? and they were kind of symbolic of her coming into her own. i like her having something a bit more notable instead of just black when she’s older and more sure of herself. for younger versions of her yeah, for sure something more along the lines of her original look which was very covered up and non descript since she wasnt really sure who she was or was meant to be. would be cool if she wasnt white like she wasnt originally but thats a whole new topic

I'm sorry I just have to say this again in light of the Ilyana/Dani scene info being released: add this to the fact that Roberto da Costa's actor is clearly not Afro-Brazilian yet Alfred Enoch, an Afro-Brazilian, was and still is LITERALLY RIGHT THERE

tbh the roberto thing was where they lost me like. the rest of the castings are like right ok thats fine i guess. im a bit skeptical on dani’s but roberto’s was just like ok thats just a completely different character who is that man. same w cecilia like please look at some comics. a wiki page anything im begging you

What do you think of Dinah's phase of having dark hair? I think it's safe to say her blonde hair is her most iconic but would you like to see her with dark hair in a live action adaption? Would you have been okay with her having dark hair in the faux BoP movie?

i do love her blonde not gonna lie. it adds to the whole bombshell thing. i think jurnee has dinah vibes regardless of hair though to be fair, so i wouldnt be mad to see her with darker hair. tbh i think what they did with her in the film w like. brown undertones but natural looking blonde highlights was a happy medium

As someone who hasn't been exposed that much to Lady Blackhawk, why do you like her character? What's her character's history in the comics?

to be honest i dont know huge amounts about her personally!!! i mostly know her from birds of prey where she comes in later. she’s time displaced from ww2 so she speaks w that kind of 40s dialect which is kind of fun. she worked super hard to be the only female member of the blackhawks, and even after she helped them (multiple times!!!!) she was only an ‘’’’’honorary’’’’’’ member and imo she still kind of comes off as wanting to prove herself sometimes??? she has a kind of tough rowdy persona which i love. she’s very brash and outspoken. she has no super powers but shes a very good pilot n good with guns too. theres a lot more that i dont know probably but shes very fun!!!! love a gal with an all leather outfit

Since Huntress is from a mafia family, is she quite wealthy in the comics or does she have a job?

she seems to do alright in terms of money. though i dont know how much of it can be from her inheritance considering she wasnt necessarily SUPPOSED to be alive. she has mentioned being a teacher a couple of times if im remembering right?? i dont know what kind of teacher or if it was ever even specified or like. actually true
