Independent modelling found that Australia’s Federal Government National Energy Guarantee (NEG) would result in 6,600 less renewable energy jobs in 2030 than business as usual and that renewable energy investment could come to a standstill. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 The Government’s energy scheme could lead to renewable energy investment and jobs grinding to a halt, while it should be doing the exact opposite. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 Yet again, we see the importance of an independent voice in holding the Government to account. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 The EY research compared the projections for the NEG of 28% renewable energy in 2030 with a business as usual scenario. We found that the Government’s proposal would result in 8% lower employment than a business as usual forecast. That means fewer jobs in wind and large-scale solar PV construction and operation. This plan is actually worse than doing nothing. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 The modelling also looked at a 50% renewable energy scenario by 2030. Staggeringly, the Government’s initiative would result in 32% less employment. That’s over 20,000 fewer jobs in large scale wind and solar PV, and rooftop PV in 2030. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 Given our abundant wind and solar resources, there are countless opportunities for Australia to grow renewable energy and reduce pollution while doing so. Today, Australia’s Chief Scientist, Alan Finkel, released a report that found that securing 50% renewable energy could reliably power Australia without needing significant amounts of storage. 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 #ClimateCouncil 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 If you would like to be part of the solution by utilising quality renewable energy products and would like to know more about getting safe, reliable battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au 🌄🌅🌄🌅🌄🌅 #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #alternativeenergy #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #saltbattery #moltensaltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #saltwaterbattery #cleanenergy #thefutureofenergy #offgrid (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)
