G is for...

Githa Organe

Githa is the last of our protagonists, accompanying Dianthus and Enayd through our story. She is also, despite in many ways being unlikable, one of my favourite characters. (I know, I say that about everyone.)

Githa is the youngest of the Dewyths in the forests, and, truth be told, she did not even finish her education before the Uprising came and she found herself needed. She can’t help feeling a little defensive about that, especially because people will so often bring up her age. She has always wanted to be a Dewyth and will not let anyone or anything rob her of the accomplishment she worked so hard - and sacrificed everything she had - to gain. Her father, educated and comfortable, was nonetheless nothing more than a common-born, and though there are no laws against Common-born Dewyths, the prohibitively high fees at the Dewyth Schools ensure that she is a rarity. 

She is quick to anger, defensive, stubborn, and would cut off her own nose to spite her face - but she also has always had to depend on herself, only herself, and has never learnt how to depend on anyone else, how to be vulnerable around anyone else ... how could she not be one of my favourites?
