i’ve apparently lost track of the original ask, but for those who were interested (winkwink) here’s a G!Pap, aka Aster as i call my interpretation of him!
i’ll put my headcanons for him below the cut as i tend to be longwinded. longstory short, Aster as i interpret him is a puzzle/locked room challenge designer and VR tech dev genius and can get caught up in his passions, but is an utterly charming gentleman who can sweep you off your feet and send your heart racing for how genuine, compelling, and honest without being brutal he tends to be.
Aster, in his own right, is pretty lost for a while after coming to the surface. like G!Sans, he came to exist due to an accident in the lab with Gaster and Sans - but instead, it was Gaster and Papyrus. Papyrus in my mind is a genius like his brother, just focused within his own interests/fields - particularly that of literature/storytelling (a lot of in-game text hints at this, actually) and on the matters puzzle making & magical combat & magical control. it leaves Aster with Papyrus’ warmer & brightly friendly disposition and puzzle/literature skills, but Gaster’s extreme focus, science/tech devoted penchants, and slyness.
Aster is a gentleman to the T, but he's also extremely mischievous - the mix of Gaster's dry wit & extreme intelligence and Pap's love of puzzle/strategy & clever mind lead him to end up finding dual work, actually, partly as the quickly critically acclaimed designer of a wide series of those 'X amount of time to escape' puzzle rooms/live action mysteries, and partly being the founder and leader of a VR tech creation company. it’s a tiny group actually, consisting of only himself and three others that are completely anonymous to the rest of the world - but he leads the pack in VR development, jumping the industry ahead by decades in the span of barely a year or two at most once he arrives on the scene.
the end result is, he's hecking loaded.
thing is, he's not about lavish wealth, so he simply primarily lives in a nice townhouse, nothing too fancy, but everything is of quality within it (and he has quite the collection of succulents)... though he does have a cabin on the mountainside deep within the forests outside of town (still not extravagant, but very well made, and with the setup needed to support his work on top of providing gorgeous views). he also has several funds set up and quietly, anonymously bankrolls the magical scientific academy monsters end up setting up on the Surface.
he's quick to smile warmly and charmingly around good company, and actually ends up being close friends with Grillby - they have debates over food and all manner of things, and share a mutual love of literature and of good times shared with good friends, even if neither of them are seemingly chatty types. they're both the types to talk more freely in a small group of close friends or one-on-one, but damn they sure do get along. they also are currently tied in the monster community for being the best male partners in any and all forms of ballroom dancing, though Grillby has the slight edge in latin styles, and Aster has the slight edge in more mid/northern european styles.
he's the type to get so passionately involved in his work that he'll disappear for a few days, but he keeps an eye out for those he cares for - he's always had a soft spot for Undyne, though for obvious reasons regarding his new identity he's never gotten quite close to her properly. he's a sucker for all kinds of tea, took all manner of ballroom dancing lessons upon reaching the surface, and has a state of the art kitchen in his cozy townhouse - which slightly baffles him in the end despite choosing it himself, because he's found that he actually loves the simple things when it comes to food.
he'll also drink an entire pot of coffee in the morning.
