Day 2: From Eisenstadt to Aibl
The second day of the WAVE 2013 led the teams from Eisenstadt via Graz and Deutschlandsberg to Aibl. Challenging 240 Kilometers in total.
The first stop was Güssing at Elektronik-Güssing after 120 Kilometer from Eisenstadt. No problem for the range of most of the vehicles. But due to problems with the power supply at the Hungarian accomodation, it prooved to be quite a challenge for some of the teams. With some cars not fully charged in the morning, the teams involved were a few hours behind the whole day. But the charging in Güssing worked flawlessly and the Goulasch for lunch was a treat for many.
Next stop was the ARBÖ driving centre in Ludersdorf. The ideal location for today's competition: Slalom! The task was easy: Diriving through the parcours as quick as possible and without leaving the marked track or hitting the cones. After having covered about 160 Kilometer in the morning by now, speed was not an option for some teams. As you might have expected, one of the three Tesla did win the competition. We congratulate Team Chargelocator for beeing the best at the Slalom competition!
Afterwards most of the teams gathered and drove in a big convoy 24 kilometres to Graz. In Graz we parked directly on the Karmeliterplatz for a two hour charging break. Many team members took the oportunity to see some of the city centre by using electric bikes suplied to us by the hosts. Like on all days so far the weather was just perfect.
From Graz all teams were heading towards Deutschlandsberg 40 kilometres away. In Deutschlandsberg we were awaited at the "Sonnwendfeier" of the local sports club "Turnerschaft Deutschlandsberg". The welcome was just amazing. Many many kids with their parents showed greatest interest for our electric vehicles and joined the teams for some test rides on the fotball field. After having a nice dinner, about a third of the teams started of for the last stage of about 20 Kilometers to Aibl. The other teams will join in the morning to start day 3. Stay tuned!
