He was dazed. Utterly confused.
Luckily, you were leading him around like the lost puppy he was. Because had that not be the case, he genuinely didn't think he'd be able to get back to your apartment without help.
That's how far your dragged him out for your birthday festivities.
And when he gently woke you up with a small bouquet of flowers that morning, telling you with a smile that you could do anything you wanted for your birthday--being dragged around town for several hours was not what he had in mind.
It started with the breakfast date you dragged him on.
Simple enough right? He had a job, he had money. He could pay for some food.
Easiest thing ever, or so he thought.
The rose tint he was viewing this day in, in how easy he thought it'd be, faded.
"Why're you going that way?" you had asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
Garou was completely befuddled. What do you mean? You wanted a breakfast date right? Why are you making that face?
"We're going home now, right?"
Taking his hand in yours, you start dragging him in the opposite direction of your cozy, air conditioned home.
"The day's just starting! We have more to do Garou~!"
Each store you dragged him into, every food stall you stopped at because "You have to try these babe! They're good I promise~", had Garou's head spinning. He can't recall seeing you run around so excitedly.
But you two don't really go out like this often, so who's he to ruin this for you?
It is your birthday after all--and he did say anything.
And so he tried. He tried his very best. It's for you after all. Anything to keep the joy you felt from fading on your day.
But that was 6 hours ago.
And while you've graduated from the birthday shopping expedition--which ended in you and Garou dropping your things off at home and a very pale Garou when you started walking towards the door again-you still had a few more things you wanted to do.
Garou wanted nothing more to just lay at home with you, but you looked so happy dragging him around. Even if he was now completely unsure of where he was.
He had no clue. Has he ever been in this part of the town before?
And the befuddlement only grew when you took him to ones of those wax hand places. The look of pure horror and confusion on Garou's face was priceless.
(You even snapped a picture, but he had you delete it.)
He did get over it though. He thought the wax felt nice, and now there's a constant reminder of how beautifully your hand fit in his. And he appreciated that.
Even while walking the unfamiliar streets, he couldn't help but keep looking at the wax statue he was carrying for you.
When you said you had one last thing in mind for today's outing, he didn't let the immense relief show, letting you drag him around again, wondering what your mind conjured up this time.
When you two arrived at a quaint little park, he looked at you, waiting for your final birthday request.
"Let's just watch the sunset, yeah?"
That's it? Garou thought it was simple enough, but last time he thought that he was swimming in various shopping bags for 4 hours.
But you did only want to watch the sunset, a little quiet time out here sounded like a nice way to end the day.
So you pulled a quilt out of your backpack, laid it on the grass and sat down.
Garou hadn't realized how long he stayed standing until you tugged at his pants until he plopped down next you haphazardly, pulling you into his side out of habit.
"Happy birthday, ya brat.."
Your laugh filled the air as you playfully jabbed him. "No nicknames! It's still my birthday so you still gotta be nice."
He rolled his eyes. But there was a clear happiness that filled him at the quiet thanks you gave him for the great day.
You two stayed on the grass for a while. The sun had almost set completely, the pinks and oranges fading against the horizon, giving to a deep indigo, stars beginning to scatter themselves amongst the clouds. Garou sighed at it.
We should get going he thought. Looking over to you, he had noticed you were asleep against his shoulder for god knows how long, you soft snores finally reaching his ears.
As he lifted your sleeping form, your eyes opened a bit, lazy smile on you lips as you looked at him.
After convincing you he'd be fine, and that he'd carry you home with no issue, you climbed on his back to be carried home.
Smiling at your quite snores again, he started to make the journey back, even if he was not 100% on where you here currently , or how to get you back to your apartment now that you were out cold against his back.
But he'd find a way. He always did for you.
