Today, I'm giving history on mimics

Mimics

Mimics are an intelligent species originating from the between. Mimics were originally a race referred to as the lost. The lost only made it to the stone age before being almost completely wiped out by a plague referred to as the blight. The remaining lost slowly evolved into mimics.

Mimics can mimic any living creature roughly around 4-8 feet tall. They can perfectly mimic the creature down to the last cell. Mimics can also extract information from living creatures by using their tongues to pierce the skull of the creature before tapping into the brain, this causes no harm to the creature due to the fact that the mimics saliva can heal any wound extremely quickly. No one knows what mimics or the lost originally looked like. The closest anyone has seen is to their original form is an amalgamation of different creatures they have mimicked. Mimics also have 3 other sub species, let's go into them.

Void mimics / thin men

Thin men are mimics that have been tainted by void, causing them to lose almost all of their abilities. Thin men are tall and lanky, their arms and legs have a goopy look to them, their torso and head have a stony texture to it, they have a single white eye with a glowing dark purple iris in the middle, their mouths are full of jagged and sharp teeth in a constant smile. The only few abilities they still have are the ability to change their hands into whatever they touch and the ability to mimic any sound they hear.

Light mimics/ prophets

Prophets are mimics that have been consumed by the light. They are similar to their void counter parts in the fact that they have lost almost all of their abilities. They are dressed in a robe that covers their entire body and a hood that covers their heads, leaving only 4 glowing white eyes staring back. Their robe is covered in different symbols that give off a small amount of light each. They carry a small lantern that has a bright white fire inside. If this fire is ever extinguished, then the prophet will then die, leaving only the robe, hood, and lantern left behind (like a jedi). Prophets are not aggressive and instead will try to calm attackers by hypnotizing them with their lantern.

Enhanced mimics / oblivions

Oblivions are mimics that have come to inhabit left behind star dweller tech. The tech has ether fused with their bodies or has consumed everything but their souls. Like most star dweller tech, oblivions are made up of a pink and purple crystal shard. They don't have legs but instead float 3 feet off the ground. Their torso is similar to that of humans. Their arms are thin and end in three fingers. Their heads are circular with a large hole on the front with a small orange light in the center. Oblivions are much smarter than most other mimics. They are constantly hungry for more knowledge and will do anything to acquire more. This has led to them becoming part of uprise in the promise of all the info they could desire

G.E.N.の社員食堂はビュッフェ形式だ。多くの従業員を効率良く捌くには、これが一番良いらしい。

チキンのトマトグリル、カニグラタン、ベイクドビーンズ、チーズオムレツ。新鮮なサラダもあるし、ヴィーガンやハラールにも対応している。

好きなものを不安なく食べられるというのは、豊かな福利厚生のひとつだろう。

テーブルに残された食器を片付けながら、ビーは周囲の様子を見ていた。

アンセム商会との一件が無くとも、この会社には様々な陰謀が渦巻いている。いくつかの派閥が出来て、下剋上を虎視眈々と狙っている。

社長が命を狙われるということくらいはザラにあるし、つい先日も本人が返り討ちにしたばかりだ。そのこと自体は別に珍しいことでもないのだが……

(アンセムがあんなやり方で警告を出すような案件なんて、そうは無いはずなんだけどね）

何か別の思惑があるのかもしれない。

だが、今のところは何も掴めていない。

「よぉビー。お疲れさん」

声をかけてきたのは社長秘書のエドワードと、その伴侶メアリーだ。

「エドさん。お疲れ様です〜」

「お前、社食に異動になったんだって？」

ビーが社食で働き始めた本当の理由は、社長直属のエドワードとメアリーにだけ唯一伝えられている。

「そうなんですよぉ！バイトからの昇進。これも腕を認められたってことですかね〜」

「バーテンダーとしても良い働きをしていたしなぁ」

「それにしても……エドさんがここに来るなんて珍しいんじゃないんですか？」

エドワードは社長秘書ということもあり普段は忙しく働いていて、G.E.N.の社食に来る事は滅多に無い。

場の空気がさっきよりもほんの少しだけピリついているのをビーは感じた。

「そりゃあお前、アレだよ。昇進祝いの挨拶みたいなもんさ」

「あぁ…なるほどね」

社長秘書は良くも悪くも注目を集める。視線が他所に向いてくれるなら、こちらの仕事もやりやすくなるというわけだ。

「エドワード…、本当にここで食事をするの？」

口を開いたのはメアリーだ。エドワードにまとわりつく視線が我慢ならないのか、この場所で一番の殺気を放っていると言っても過言ではないかもしれない。

「悪いなメアリー。これも仕事だと思ってくれ」

「……わかったわ」

「それじゃあ、ごゆっくり」

ビーは二人の席から離れて他の社員たちの給仕に向かった。

（エドさんの苦労人っぷりにも磨きがかかったみたいですね〜）

そうしてフロアを回っているうち、ビーは不自然な動きをする人間に気付いた。それは些細な違いに見えるが、普通に使うにしては明らかにスマホの持ち方と向きがおかしかった。

初日から尻尾の先を掴めるのは幸運だっただろう。
