we have revolutionized fridged women because this one is an actual character who shows up to guide her beloved <3
also childhood friends to romance is a very sweet trope that is used very sparsely in CV (Juste and Lydie are friends, and we can assume they've known each other since young, and if you ship Shanoa and Albus they count too). You can imagine them courting each other and bonding and having fun :)
I didn't experience the series, sorry :( but I still remember the scene of "I am no longer Gabriel, woman!", with Dracul accepting with scorn his new identity and Marie insisting he's still her Gabriel.
Isaacul
DOLLY ISAAC DOLLY ISAAC DOLLY ISAAC getting all the love and care and affection it deserves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just am a sucker for two hurt people healing together even if in a way the world doesn't understand 🥺 Dracul wants to be cherished and Isaac wants to be praised as a good object without being thrown away like Dracula did ❤️
pseudo-incest with its sire and its brood brother. love me some twisted vampire relationships that trascend human bond :3c
18 for Gabriel and Marie! Honestly really like that one!
18. A wakes up in the morning for work. B, clingy, gets them to stay in bed and cuddle for a few more minutes.
Marie was used to Gabriel waking up long before her, as was his routine since he was a child. Normally, she loved how dedicated he was to his cause. Right now, it was cold, and her warm husband was trying to scoot out of bed.
Wrapping her arms around him, she slid on top of him, and nuzzled her face back into his neck. That beautiful chuckle was her reward, as those big, warm arms wrapped around her. Gabriel's morning stubble was delightfully prickly as he rubbed his face against her head.
"I apologize if I awoke you," he yawned, "but I really need to head out."
A whine tore out of her throat, as she clung tighter to him and kept her eyes firmly shut. His scent and warmth was enough to lull Marie back to sleep, as he heard her soft breaths in his ear. With a sigh, he traced along her spine, slowly losing his own battle with his eyelids.
Gabriel was three hours late. Gabriel was never late to training in his life, yet here he was. Three hours late, and still no signs of the man. This man was supposed to be their chosen one? Brother Kenneth thought, as he traveled to the Belmont cottage, intent on making an example of why one should never be late to prayers and training.
To say that Kenneth was prepared to enter the cottage, only to find the two still asleep, with Gabriel curled over on his side, wrapped around Marie like a protective blanket. The knight sighed and walked out of the cottage, making sure to shut the door quietly behind himself.
Have some newlyweds Gabriel and Marie, the day after their wedding.
Gabriel woke up to a dark cottage. It was too early for the sun to rise yet, so the moon cast her soft glow into the room still. His eyes slowly open and blink into awareness. The knight was used to waking up early, no matter if he had a job or mission that day. However, when his eyes focused on the figure beside him, this wasn't his routine that woke him.
Beside him, was his best friend of nearly twenty years. Now his wife of one day, out of many more. Gabriel's heart fluttered at the sight of Marie in the moonlight. She looked so peaceful and beautiful. His arms tighten around her and he buries his face in her hair. Marie stirred, but only enough to cuddle closer, and sigh his name gently in her sleep.
Gabriel had dreamed of this since he was a little boy, stuck in the Brotherhood of Light's orphanage. He had prayed and begged God for a family. A large one. One that pushed the seams of the cottages in the village. Most adults were unsettled by Gabriel when he was a child, so he was in the orphanage until adulthood. It was strange, watching many of his brothers and sisters be adopted, and watching many more come in through those doors, but always wondering why no one wanted him.
He didn't mind it now. After all, it led to him finding the love of his life, and the mother of their future children. Gabriel sighs softly. The wedding was still fresh on his mind, and the ring on his hand was still warm. The band shined softly in the light, signifying their eternal love and bond.
"Why are you awake so early?" Marie's voice asks, her voice was soft from sleep.
This startled Gabriel. How long has she been awake?
"I was just thinking." He says, his voice was also soft. He felt Marie pull back to look at him.
"Oh? Care to share your thoughts with your beloved wife?" One of her hands reaches up and cups his face. He sighs softly, covering that hand with his, pulling it to his lips to kiss her wrist.
"I was thinking of how much I love you, and how wonderful it feels to call you my wife." He answers softly. He saw her face flush slightly, but her smile was soft and dreamy. Like she couldn't believe this either. That was a wonderful thought to him.
"Quite early to be this sappy, my love." She chuckles. That loving name sent warmth throughout his body. He leans into her, and they nuzzle their noses together. Neither one quite had the energy for a kiss this early.
They both fell asleep, whispering promises of the future and love for each other. Right now, everything was perfect for Gabriel. For once, he was excited for the future, because he could build it with Marie.
Hm... Gabriel and Marie, along with Redomon. I'm curious
Gabriel/Marie
1. Childhood friends to lovers is an underrated and underused relationship in Castlevania but it hits so much every time.
2. They are so in love, they only get one kiss scene in the entire trilogy, because they don't need to kiss on screen to show how in love they are.
3. The way they bring peace to each other's souls is also just 👌😩 Between Marie helping Gabriel out of his spiral, and Gabriel helping Marie's spirit rest I just love them so much.
Redomon
1. I see the potential to them, and it fascinates me deeply, especially since we don't have much background on either of them, nor what they could've been to each other. Other than Solomon used to work/serve Red.
2. The angst material is beautiful between them, and it's something I want to explore at some point. Like, Solomon is watching his love spiral into thirst and power and deeper, and he can't do anything to stop him.
3. In saying that, in AUs where Red is alive, the slow burn of Solomon trying to figure out if he can even trust Red again and Red having to prove that Solomon can put his faith in his old friend and lover is equally good.
As soon as his lessons were over, Gabriel ran out into the mountains. He was on a quest to go meet his friend out there, and he wouldn't miss it for the world.
He ran in the woods, running trails known only to him and his best friend, his boots splashing in the streams. Gabriel knew these woods, he was raised under the careful guidance of these mountains, and the spot he was heading towards was not on any of the Brotherhood maps. It was his and his friend's secret spot.
Speaking of which, he stopped once he made it to the glade. There was a little brook bubbling through it, with a few skinny trees doting the landscape. He startled a few rabbits back to their warrens as he went to sit in their usual spot. His was a tree stump, whilst his friend sat on a smooth stone, worn away with time. However, his friend.... Wasn't here yet.
Gabriel didn't get a chance to look though, as small hands covered his eyes.
"Guess who!" Marie's voice chimed in the glade.
"Could it be.... Sister Gertrude?" He replied, laughing at her little prank.
"Not even close!" Marie squealed as she uncovered his eyes. Gabriel couldn't help but laugh at her antics, as she sat down and her gown poofed around her dramatically. He never could stop smiling around her. But he was here for another reason.
He rummaged through the pouch on his hip, and found a note. The note was given to him by Marie's brother, Joshua, and it read for him to meet her here once his chores studies were over.
Her brown eyes lit up at the sight of the note, "So he did give it to you!" She nodded her approval.
Gabriel tilted his head, "yes, but what did you need to talk to me about that was this important?"
She jumped up from her spot, "that's because I had a question for you, Mister Belmont!" She drew out the "mister" part, and Gabriel lifted an eyebrow at her. "I wanted to know if you've ever kissed anyone!"
"No! Of course I haven't!" He was taken aback by her question.
"Well," she stated, "I haven't either... But have you ever thought about it?"
Gabriel had thought about it. He thought a lot about it, especially with the girl in front of him. But that wasn't allowed. Kissing was saved for marriage.
"I see that look in your eyes! You definitely have! I wonder who the lucky lady is!" She laughed. The squire blushed and looked away from her.
But she didn't let that happen, as she stepped closer to him and placed her hands on his face. Her hands were soft, though some callouses were forming from learning the ways of a seamstress like her mother.
"Well, it wouldn't do if you didn't know, at least a little of what you're doing!" She chuckled, her smile never leaving.
"Marie, what are you on about?" Gabriel stuttered out. His face was hot in her hands, but it was clear that she was on a mission.
"I saw Joshua and Florina kissing behind the pig shed yesterday, and I'm curious. Aren't you just a little bit curious?" She asked. Gabriel was surprised that Florina would kiss Joshua, especially considering her parents owned the tavern.
But he didn't want to think about them at this moment. It was a sin to do this.... But Marie was right there and he was pretty curious. So he nodded.
She smiled and pressed forward and he leaned down a little.
Their lips didn't quite connect how he envisioned them to. Their noses bumped and their teeth clanked, it was more of a chaste press than anything he had ever seen with the knights of the Brotherhood and their lovers. They both pulled away, blinking at each other, before laughing together. It was perfect to them.
14. A sleeps with their head on B's chest, soothed by their heartbeat.
Marie was in bed, leaning against the headboard of the bed, as the TV was playing in the background. Dracul wasn't entirely sure what was playing on said TV, or that Marie truly knew either, but it was a nice background noise as she knitted. The vampire was exhausted from going around with Trevor to take care of some of the cultists in the city, and crawled into bed beside her. He didn't bother to redress, having taken a shower so that he wouldn't bring the city's filth into their clean, safe bed.
But despite the exhaustion, he couldn't sleep. Sleep was always a fickle bed mate to Dracul, so he watched his beloved beside him. Her hands were moving in fluid, practiced motions, as her attention was on the screen in front of the bed. Until she looked over at him, with a soft, knowing smile.
Marie placed her knitting on the bedside table, and sat up a little further to strip herself of her nightgown, before leaning back again, leaving her arms open. How could Dracul not accept such an invitation?
He scooted closer, until he was on top of her, and laid his head with his ear against her chest. He could hear how her heart beat, how the blood moved in her veins, every inhale and exhale of breath in her lungs, and even the slight bubbling in her stomach. All so human, reminding him that she was here. Alive and well beside him, and lulling him into sleep. Those lithe, calloused fingers carding through his hair made it even harder to keep his eyelids open.
His eyelids eventually betrayed him, and he fell into a deep, sound slumber, watched over by his beloved Marie.
Marie resting in bed, with Dracul on top of her, asleep. Her fingers go through his hair, and he gently squeezes her as he stretches some, before releasing his grip and cuddling further into her chest, purring in his sleep.
I remember that you've mentioned that Marie's picked up some fighting skills from Gabriel... has she ever managed to knock him over somehow?
It'd be funny if she did! Hehe
Yes, but only when they were younger. Marie picked up on some techniques from watching her brothers and Gabriel train with the other squires/knights, and she begged her brothers to teach her some of these when they'd return. Her brothers gave in, under the guise that she would use it to defend herself, but what she actually did was initiate a play wrestle when she snuck out to see Gabriel, and managed to pin him. Much to both of their teenage hormonal confusion.
When they get older, Marie can still defend herself if needed, but she simply isn't a fighter. She prefers to be able to talk things out. However, her and Gabriel still play wrestle, and sometimes she catches him off guard and pins him.
Especially post LoS2, where technically, Marie has nowhere near the physical capabilities as Dracul, but they still like to play with each other, involving them looking each other in the eyes, and then Marie darting out, inciting Dracul to chase after her, which leads to a game of who can pin who.
