Fic rec
I randomly happened upon this fic yesterday, and I thought it looked interesting, so I started to read; and finished it in one sitting, staying up until 1.30 to do so. It is incredibly well written and heartfelt.
The pairing is Erik Johnson/Gabriel Landeskog, but really it’s Erik’s story, a character study about dealing with internalized homophobia from a heavily religious background
A Month of Sundays by Kelfin. Rated M, 70k words
Unlike some guys, who freak out when things get even a little bit gay, Erik is fine with this stuff. Erik's not even fazed when Gabe's attempts at flirting with him start to get semi-public, a fact that, by his own judgment, makes him at least five to seven times more tolerant than your average forward-thinking American.

So... Thought on “The Fallen”, movie.
WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD FOR BOTH MOVIE AND BOOKS.
Staying true to the book? Um... it tried... it really did, I will give it the credit for that, but there were some things that really vexed me.
First of, as much as I love the scene, Daniel and Luce did not fence in the book... and she only did some fencing against Lilith in Torment so... guy, c’mon.
Secondly, Penn’s parents did not just dump her at Swords and Cross because they did not care. Her father worked as a gardener there, so she studied there, then he died and she was allowed to stay at school.
There was no lake scene, instead, it became a pool scene, which I am kind of okay with but still...
Daniel did not fly Luce to wherever. He did not even tell her he was going to take her to a safe place in the book.
Arriane did not ask Luce to cut her hair like in the book and was actually a lot calmer than the eccentric girl Arriane was described as. Also, we did not get to see her scar...
Overall, I think the movie was kinda rushed and there are probably other things that weren’t quite right with the movie that I do not remember right now but... would I watch Torment if they made it into a movie? Hell yes.
Things the movie got right, (at least for me.)
Jeremy Irvine as Daniel Grigori
I did not think Harrison was cut out for Cam, but damn, he was good.
The casting of the other angels. ME LOVE.
Miss Sophia was on point. (That bitch needs to die)
I saw the little hints of Bill (Lucifer) there. I saw them.
Did I mention Jeremy Irvine?
Luce’s actress, Addison Timlin, was an okay Luce, but I personally always saw Kaya Scodelario as Luce more... just me.
Penn was cute af.
My heart broke for Penn and Todd. I shipped it, and Todd was charming, with his British Accent.
So Randy is a guy! Thanks for clearing it.
The fencing scene was goals, with that flashback, even if it wasn’t in the book. (I know I mentioned it above, but I loved it.)
Jeremy Irvine. I need to stop, but, Jeremy...
So, this is my opinion. Please, share yours with me. I may add some things on when I remember...
Läck and Landeskog looking like some hockey romcom.
