War looms on the horizon and Shepard finds himself thinking about the changes in his life and how they’ve come about. Finally, good things are happening to him and now, he might very well lose them all. Kaidan helps him put things into perspective and along the way, Shepard realizes the most important thing of all.
And here is a second piece I did, which was inspired by the drafts elle and max sent during the course of their writing.

Just so you know, I'm running a fever, I've got a nasty cough, and my sinuses are filled with something I can't even describe. And it was totally worth it.
"May you stand between your crew and harm as you lead them through the empty quarters of the stars." It's an old ship-captain's blessing.
Gabe Shepard Halfway through ME1 with my boi. I was supposed to go renegade with him but...*sigh*.

8. Who takes the lead in social situations? How are they around each other's friends?
Gabe and Tali both give kind of introverted energy, and I think they would switch off who takes the lead in different situations. Whoever felt more comfortable with whatever they were doing. Much as Gabe is in a commanding position by virtue of his job, he's more than willing to sit back and let someone else take the lead when he isn't in command. And Tali's a leader in her own right, so I think there's a balanced push and pull there.
As for friends, they're both pretty social and get along with a lot of different people--they could respectably mesh with any group except, maybe, there could be some friction with Tali and Jack, because Jack is just not a nice person and Gabe really does care about her a lot and I feel like Tali would not get it at all.
9. Who gets jealous easier?
Honestly, Tali. Which says more about Gabe's disinterest in jealousy than anything about Tali's proclivity for it. I truly think Gabe is just like, head empty. loves girlfriend. He trusts her implicitly in combat scenarios, so he knows he can trust her implicitly about their relationship, too. He knows he has no reason to be jealous, so he just isn't. And I always think of Tali more as a pathetic yearner (tm) than as the jealous type, though I think she could get pushed to the point of jealousy way faster than Gabe could
