The thing about the steam machine is that it's gonna be the best "gaming pc" for whatever price it ends up retailing for, there will be no reason to build your own pc if your budget is enough to get a steamcube™, they claimed it is supposed to run "most if not all" steam games reasonably well at a "entry level pc" price, if that thing manages to run a game like battlefield 6 at 60fps on release then it will become the new "skill floor" for any pc build to beat. Folks who want to get into PC gaming will no longer get overwhelmed by pc elitists telling them to do research on how to build their own pc from scratch or get ripped off by pre-built pc companies who overcharge for an underperforming rig.

The answer to the decades old question of "how to get into pc gaming as a computer layman" will simply become "get a steam machine"
