Never forget, NEVER forgive.....
Five years ago today.
The last we saw of her.
Our beloved Potato Girl.
Five years ago today. When she was STOLEN from us.
Five years ago today. When one of Attack on Titan's greatest heroes was banished from the story, leaving a shadow looming over the entire series that it could NOT escape.
Sasha, a character who still had SO MUCH to give, so much more she could've brought to the story, a story that needed her heart, her presence, her laugh, her smile, and her courage to a story that without her became a living hell to endure. A character who's absence actively brought down both the manga and the anime in their endgame. Five years ago, when one character's concerted effort to hijack Attack on Titan came full circle, when Sasha's legacy came under relentless attack in one of the worst cases of character shilling I've EVER seen.
And Hajime Isayama just fucking mocked us the entire way. And his fans just FUCKING WATCHED without question. Never forget what was lost in this concerted effort to obliterate all that Sasha was, what she could have been, and what she gave since that day she was caught sneaking a potato into training. There's no greater crime than wasting untapped character potential. And that's where Attack on Titan's greatest failure as a story lies. Gabi Braun was never a serious character who had any true place in the story this late in the game, NOR was there anything organic or natural in how she came about or any justification for the "message" Isayama claimed to have been conveying through her very creation. No character who has to steal the place of another so beloved, to the point where the author had the audacity to suggest they were direct parallels to each other right down to PHYSICAL APPEARANCE, is a character that has any business being such a huge focus.
Never forget who the real devil in all of this was. Enduring her presence has truly been a fucking nightmare.
And every agonizing second of that episode and the chapter that spawned it is a memory I've had to work tirelessly to suppress. Never has a single character arc been so thoroughly damaging on so many fronts and all for something that was ultimately IRRELEVANT by the time Eren's work was done. After Isayama had gone the extra mile to punish us for our love of Sasha. And it never had to go that far...
It never had to go that far, there were other ways, guys. There were other ways. The stories we could've gotten practically write themselves, but Hajime Isayama has demonstrated he has no such honor whatsoever when it comes to his writing.
We want to forget Assassin's Bullet. But we must never forget Assassin's Bullet.
No amount of Gabi Braun, and no amount of Isayama's bullshit can break our love of Sasha. Because there is no Attack on Titan without Sasha Braus.
Justice for Sasha Braus. Because she deserves so much better. And we are owed that much for the despicable stunt that was pulled on us all those years by Hajime Isayama, a man unworthy of his own creation. This story ended with the Ocean.
