A Short PSA

Since Gabriel has gone on another hiatus, and since I have school to worry about, we need to have a talk.

This Tumblr was started with the simple idea that even in the age of the ever present internet, we must sometimes grind and save as much as we can the things that we love. Gabriel's site became undependable a long time ago, and so this site was born.

It's been over three years since then, and although we don't get as many notes or reblogs and such, those things were never the purpose of this Tumblr.

One of the things I've loved having here is the many questions people bring to me about some obscure phrase or word or feeling from one of Gabriel's poems, and a penchant for finding the same. More often than not I was able to help them, and that brought me as much joy as it must've brought to the person searching for them.

I request, as far as possible, for the questions to be off anonymous, so that the person asking the question can be notified of it. That said, anon questions are always an option.

Nobody knows when Gabriel is going to return to his Tumblr, but I await the wholesome day when that happens.

As far as I know, this Tumblr will remain. I've only put up about 60 of his poems, and I plan to queue the rest soon. The questions from anons and other users will be answered as quickly as possible.

I don't even know if anyone reads these, but dear Reader, thank you for coming this far into the journey with us.

Shower Orange

Go to market. Buy an orange, of any variety. Make note: the messier, more difficult to peel, the better. Take it home and put it in the fridge. Your shower orange should be cold.

Gather your lover, or if you don’t have a lover, gather yourself. Strip yourself bare and run water––the hottest your skin can stand. Allow the steam to build for a moment, breathe deep.

Enter the shower with your orange, and with your lover, if your lover exists and is available. Breathe as the water cascades down your skin, down the skin of your orange.

Take a breath, belly deep, and dig into the skin of your orange. Break it apart and shove it to your mouth, free and primal. Let its juices flow down your limbs, drop the peel as it breaks and tear into it again.

Get vicious. Take that orange for all it’s worth. Devour and extend your barbaric yawp, or your laughter, or your sensuality. Rejoice and be reborn.

What does it feel like when you write poetry?

What does it feel like when you write poetry?

It feels like that moment when you’re about to cross the street and you can see all the shops and people on the other side going about their lives while you’re tucked in your own life, and you know some of those people will go home to steak and wine and sensual sex and unwashed dishes, and you feel that so deeply that it becomes a kind of empathy.

14. Have you ever read your poem out loud in public? If so, where?

If you don't count the occasional spoken word I post on here, then no. I wouldn't know if there'd be places where I could read my poetry aloud in my native language anywhere near me. Then again, I have about four poems in my native language anyway. I suppose not being able to read it in public is the downside of writing in a foreign language.
