The Gabys, “Colour Me Out.” Forthcoming on Fruits & Flowers.
From the label:
The Gabys are a lower than low-key UK bedsit duo, too shy yet to set foot on stage, but their isolation has wrought gem after gem of minimalist cassette recorded melancholy. This is Velvet Underground-inspired electric folk music that can roll with 90s New Zealand greats like Dadamah and The Garbage & The Flowers but also has parallels with current San Francisco lo-fi pop moodists like April Magazine, Cindy and Mister Baby. This is The Gabys second vinyl EP after a previous 7” on Fruits & Flowers and a cassette on Detroit’s All Gone Records and its' four tracks are over way too soon. There is slightly more space for the gorgeous vocals & melodies this time around but their trademark murky guitar sound is still intact.
