Ghost Zanka haunting his old family estate where Jabber's new apartment is built upon. Most people can't see Zanka, and he can't affect the physical world either, but Jabber with his "living life on the edge" attitude already has one foot in the grave, metaphorically.
Zanka is frustrated watching Jabber "throw his life away" goofing around and not applying himself because Zanka himself died young and didn't have a chance at freedom.
Jabber is highly entertained by his new ghostly roommate, the way he crashes out and speaks in an archaic manner (until one day Zanka disappears without a word and the apartment is too quiet to bear).
The only time Zanka is able to reach beyond the spiritual realm to change the physical one is to prevent Jabber from getting fatally hurt, cushioning his fall before he splits his skull on concrete in his apartment alone.
Zanka is hysterical, inconsolable - he was about to see Jabber die in front of his eyes, himself helpless as he's always been in life and death. It was a stroke of luck that he'd been able to do anything at all.
Jabber is horrified, numb, still high as a kite. He doesn't understand why Zanka's yelling at him, why the pain and high he feels now is not exhilarating but suffocating, why Zanka even cares. He'd thought they hated each other! God, he can't handle this right now, can everyone just shut up, he just needs some time to think!
