fighting my own brain in an attempt to be not complete garbage better at playing widowmaker is... it's an experience.
but some good news: i've been noticing a lot of players (specifically players who know what they're doing/who are very good at widow) don't use her scope for long. and as soon as they hit something (or rather, the split second they hit so it looks like even before anything makes contact), they un-scope and then scope back in for their next target, even if they could easily stay scoped to keep shooting.
i was wondering about this, raking my brain for the benefits i already knew it could have (reducing tunnel-vision, re-positioning, getting ready to move after your bullet-trail gives you away), but nothing i could think of really justified un-scoping that much...
and then i eventually miraculously realized something
scoping-in requires your middle finger to be on the right mouse button, holding it down. that requires energy from your hand/arm/body. it tires you out very fast, and MESSES WITH YOUR HAND'S STEADINESS.
here i've been holding in scope for ages, trying to hit anything, and not giving myself a break.
i was always confused about kait's advice about 'breathing' to time widowmaker's shots (you have to wait a second or two after zooming in for her gun to charge up. otherwise you might as well just spit at the screen for all the damage you're not doing), and it never made sense to me when you've already been zoomedin and are trying to land multiple shots. Ifjkl;jdsakldfs of course. of course. it works when you're not scoped in constantly! aaaaaaaaaa
so yeah. i just recently started adjusting this about my habits, and everything already feels so much better ;___;
