A few days ago, I announced my first ever photography exhibition in Sydney. (The link is still up in my bio if you want to check it out, come and see me at the launch or learn more.) This was genuinely one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever done, capturing the changing face of Australian small business. I got to photograph business owners working on their passion points (their purpose, WHY they got into business) and their pain points! Not only was I fascinated to learn from all ten businesses I visited, but the photography itself was so fun!… A few days ago, I announced my first ever photography exhibition in Sydney. Not only was I fascinated to learn from all ten businesses I visited, but the photography itself was so fun! I was up on ladders, snaking around on the floor, shooting dangerously close to fire, shooting through shop windows, wrangling pet dogs, eating tacos (I mean, you can’t waste the food after a flat lay shoot) and more! Six days, 3 states, 10 businesses and hundreds of photos. I hope you all get a chance to visit the gallery and see my work in print. @Xero #BeautifulBusiness #PaperToPixels . . . . . @GaffaGallery #GaffaGallery @TheArbourists #TheArbourists #ILoveSydney #PhotographyExhibition #SeeAustralia #Sydney A few days ago, I announced my first ever photography exhibition in Sydney. This exhibition is a group show at Gaffa Gallery, Sydney that I have work in. It also marks the end of my Master's Degree at the University of New South Wales Art & Design.
‘Éphemeral Inscriptions’ is a group exhibition I’m in for the next two weeks at Gaffa Gallery, 281 Clarence St, Sydney. 24 November – 5 December 2016.
Typically an inscription is made by a motion of the hand that leaves behind a record of its trajectory. Ephemerality removes this sense of permanence via the ‘culture of speed’ we appear to be closely aligned to (Tomlinson, 2007) .
Ephemeral Inscriptions asks its artists and their viewing audience to move beyond the surface quality of the presented façade in an attempt to explore the presence and interpretation of touch, gesture and trace.
Slow your heart and open your eyes …
