I’ve been enjoying a fairly steady diet of WG shakes lately, and one thing I've noticed is that a lot of shakes make me feel like absolute crap after I'm finished. So I tinkered with one and came up with a recipe that doesn't make me feel logy and tired when I'm done, and I figured I'd share it!
Reesey's Banana & Other Stuff Shake*
*catchier name forthcoming
Ingredients:
2 C milk or half & half (I prefer half & half)
2 Bananas
1.5 C frozen berries (I use blueberries, but you do you)
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup oats (grind them up in a coffee grinder or soak them for 30 minutes beforehand, otherwise they won’t mix in well)
6 tbsp peanut or almond butter
4 tbsp Hershey's syrup
(Optional): 1 cup ice cream (whatever flavor you want)
Preparation:
Break up the bananas and put them in a blender
Grind (or soak) the oats, toss them in there too
You know what, just put everything in there. Just make sure the peanut butter isn't the very first or the very last thing in, otherwise it won’t mix in well.
Blend and taste. It's best (and easiest to drink) when it's cold and not terribly thick; if it's too thick or not cold enough, you can either add ice cubes or more frozen berries. My blender isn't big enough to accommodate the extra berries or ice cubes on the first go round, but if yours is, well BULLY FOR YOU MISTER ROCKEFELLER.
Blend again (if you added more stuff after the first pass).
Drink it. All of it.

Piglet (milk, no ice cream): 1,694 calories
Piggy (half & half, no ice cream OR milk and ice cream): 2,025 calories
Hog (half & half + ice cream): 2,356 calories
Note: Some recipes suggest protein powder, and you can add it in if you want (+120 calories per scoop). I personally skip it—it makes me feel super tired and kind of kills my appetite for a while—but to each their own.
Enjoy!
