*Stepping up on the soap box* Sometimes when people see my progress in my transformation Tuesday posts they mention that they, or someone else, think that I have used "drugs" (steroids) to get where I am. I generally try to take these comments as compliments. If they think I am abusing steroids (when I certainly am not), then it just reassures me that I must be doing things right. The down-side of these comments are that someone who is thinking of starting their own transformative journey might see them and think it's true... And it may discourage them from trying to do it themselves. I'm here to tell you that you CAN make huge changes with time. My transformation has taken well over 4 years now. 4 years of trying to do at least 1 more rep or a little more weight each and every workout, 6 days per week for the last couple years, and at least 4 days per week before that (with regular deloads). Workouts during vacation. Workouts when I didn't feel like doing them. Countless hours of research, spending time improving my form, and finding every LEGAL way I can to improve my results through nutrition and supplementation. These comparison videos show that it has taken me 2 and a half years to add 5 reps to my wide grip pull-ups. Not a massive increase for that amount of time. You can see that my form is way better on the right, though (until I get fatigued 😄). My gains have been gradual but steady over the last 4 years. You can do it, too! WITHOUT steroids. But to get my same results it will take the same resolve. The same commitment. The same effort. The same consistency. 💯! Or, you can choose to make yourself feel better for lacking these things by trying to chalk it up to substance abuse. Your choice...
