Congrats on 200 followers!! 🎉🎉🎊🎊 I loved your angsty Gajevy fic! Oh, it took a hold on my heart and squeezed it with Gajeel's pain 💓 so, my request: could you write Gajeel's thoughts/struggle/feelings after a battle where Levy put herself at risk for him? (Like with Torafusa or Bloodman) thank you! ❤❤❤
Omg my first request, YES!! 😱🤗Anyways! 😁😂Thank you so much, that’s so sweet of you for saying that! Hehe yeah, as I wrote it and re-read it to edit, I teared up every time.
Ok so here is a little drabble for what you requested. It is after the fight with Torafuse. I had to re-watch a few episodes like “Air” which just made me so happy and just squeal with enjoyment like the first time I watch that episode lol 😂 along with feeling that tingle go down my spine when Gajeel rescue Levy at the end and yells, “Don’t you touch her!” ugh😳🤤 Anyways, here you are love! I really hopes it’s ok and that you like it! ❤️❤️❤️😘

Gajeel hefted the heavy lightning dragon slayer up onto his back. He looked ahead to see Levy already starting to walk with an unconscious Juvia on her own back. They had taken a short break to rest after splitting up with Lucy to take these two back to Porlyusica to get them healed properly. After catching up to Levy with his long strides, they walked side by side. Out of corner of his eye he could still see the blush gracing her cheeks. The embarrassment and flattery she must have felt from his little impromptu song must still be lingering in her mind. The thought made him smirk a little.
It has always been kind of hobby of his to make her blush any way he could. Whether that it is from being out of embarrassment, being flustered, or frustrated, it didn’t even matter. As long as he could get her cheeks to turn a rosy pink, turning her already gorgeous face into a true master piece, it was worth it.
That’s when his memory decided to step in and ruin his peaceful, happy thoughts. The image of Levy floating a drift in that poisoned water and unable to breath just because she had given him her last breath. Along with the same feeling of terror he felt coming back when he saw Torafusa charging start for her. Gajeel still couldn’t believe how reckless and stupid she had been when she decided to give him her last breath of air. Levy had risked her own life to save his own.
Now, Levy is probably the smartest person he knows. So, how the hell did she think that her choice was the right one for a situation like this? Levy’s life is actually worth something compared to his own. His life isn’t even worth a sliver of her’s. Levy is beautiful in mind and body, kind, funny, determined, adorable, and most importantly, innocent. Gajeel is just a big lump of iron, only useful in fights, destroying property, and can create a decent tune. There isn’t even a comparison to who’s life is more worthy between the two of them. Levy could actually make a difference in the world with just her smarts and dedication. That’s one of the many things he has come to admire about her and thanking the gods every day for his friendship with her. Even though he knew he doesn’t deserve this kind of relationship with her, especially after what he had done to her.
But Gajeel couldn’t stay away from her if he tried. He needed her. He needed her more than she could ever imagine. So the thought of almost losing her because of him caused a permanent, painful crack to form in his heart.
If he had lost her today, there would be so many things he would miss about her. He would miss how she mumbles to herself as she read or did research. He would miss the way she smiled at him whenever he played with Asuka or helped out someone who was struggling in any of the towns they had traveled to for a job. He would miss the way her hazel eyes would shine whenever the sunset hit them just right or the sparkle they get whenever she finds a new book. He’d miss the way she runs her fingers through the unruly, black hair whenever he laid his head down on her lap while they traveled on train, knowing she thinks he is completely unaware of her soothing habit.
He’d miss every perfect and every flawed part of her. Levy was the one person who understood him and his actions even if they were complete opposites. She saw past his own flaws and scars when no one else would. She was his light in the shadows of his own darkness.
Gajeel promised to himself that day he would never allow himself to be in another situation like that. Where there was the slightest chance of Levy risking her own life to save him. It pained him to even think about a world without Levy and he never wanted that to become a reality. He couldn’t live with himself if she had died because of him. And he never wanted her to feel guilty if he ever sacrificed his own life to save her’s. Instead, he will make sure to protect her and himself so neither of them will ever have to make that kind of sacrifice. So neither of them will have to go through the heartache of losing a loved one.
However, Gajeel would soon realize that preventing that kind of pain is unavoidable, especially if your are trying to protect the one who has your heart.
