I would gladly punch your psychiatrist.. Was really validating to hear a psychiatrist tell me that adhd meds can be really good for dealing with cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia, today. She said opus in aarhus are known for working with that. It gives me hope that there are new winds blowing in psychiatry, and that they will end up in Copenhagen too. Now that Bat is getting on track, you're next in line :P might take a while, but don't let one backwards psych ruin all hope.

It’s not just “one backwards psych” unfortunately - even if things are slowly starting to change, facts are that treatment of schizophrenia related negative and cognitive symptoms with stimulants is still a very new and controversial idea. I am very happy that you and Bat managed to find someone willing to try it out, but I assume that Bat now has an actual ADHD diagnosis - which means she’s in a different situation than I am without an ADHD diagnosis, even if she’s also schizo spec. So I don’t have much hope. Especially not considering that I have zero say in what psychiatrists I have to work with.

Oof I'm sorry, that was a really dumb comment by your dad :( I think you're right to be upset. It's so frustrating not being able to do certain things, and having others make a comment as if it bothers them too, would be so painful. Is it possible for you to talk to your dad about how this type of comment affects you, when you're feeling more calm?

I’ve talked to my mom about it and she has mentioned it to my dad, so he is now aware that he hurt my feelings and he’s sorry he articulated himself like that. He didn’t say it to be mean and he didn’t know I’d take it the way I did, so it’s not that he’s intentionally being an asshole. He just accidentally kicked a very sore spot and it’ll take me some time to feel okay with myself and my situation again. I will talk it through with him when I manage to calm down, but right now I don’t think I’m stable enough to actually have a constructive conversation about it, so for now I’m just trying to distract myself a little while I wait for the distress to settle.

Yeah, I know, but I'm somewhat more positive knowing that there are psychs out there in Denmark who are willing to prescribe these meds for the cognitive symptoms, even in the absence of adhd. But yeah you're absolutely right that it's not just one backwards psych, and it's going to be a battle. I think it's worth fighting though, and I offer you my sword. I know it's not much, but I'm on your side, and I'm in for the long haul. 💜

Yes, it’s good that there’s some local examples of this being possible - but I don’t think I dare to get my hopes up again just yet. Cause knowing my luck, the fact that SOME people are having success with this doesn’t equal that I ever will. I really appreciate your support though and to be honest there’s few people I’d rather have on my team than you. I mean, just look at how you and your support has turned things around for Bat recently! So it’s definitely not that I do not trust you or your abilities to make good shit happen - and I am happy that you still believe in this project and care to help. I’m just afraid of getting my hopes up when they got crushed so thoroughly the last time I tried to make this happen...

Phew, at one in the night we're finally done semi cleaning the apartment.. It was rough, but Moose and Bear were there to help, thankfully.

Yah I think it'll be good for the two of you to visit - it's all about finding and maintaining a healthy balance, and figuring out who your are. I hope I didn't come off as too stand off ish when you first appeared, I was merely worried for Kat. Rn I'm emptying my old apartment, it's really rough bc I have very little energy. But I just gotta push through!

Everyone was worried at first, Kat included, and I do not blame you. I had a lot to prove and I've taken pride in proving it to a satisfactory degree. This is a weird manifestation of mental illness so it's natural to be cautious - and I don't blame anyone for not just uncritically embracing my existence before knowing my intentions and effect on Kat.
