not to be salty on main but the double standard in the Six fandom is real sometimes. Adrianna’s controversy caused a huge uproar and she still gets hate to this day, but when Aimie or Caitlin or any other white actress has a controversy, people are far more willing to just sweep it under the rug and forgive.
it’s okay to feel disheartened by what adrianna did, but i do have to say that people nowadays still act so immaturely when it came to her controversy. i do not approve of what she did but what i do commend is how she stuck to her promise and didn’t repeat the same thing what happened.
meanwhile, aimie and caitlin’s stuff are just. not talked about? pardoned? aimie’s message and actions literally reek of unconscious white privilege and not recognizing her privilege as a white person is racist in my opinion. caitlin’s unwillingness to discuss her tweets in the past was also very iffy to me. additionally, them blocking fans was also?? big oof??? people need to wake the fuck up and not pardon aimie and caitlin for their actions. specifically aimie actually since caitlin, even if it was a private messaged apology, still had a more well-said apology than aimie’s half-assed one.
and i’m not saying we “cancel” aimie, by the way. i still think cancel culture is trash and humans are complex beings, but when aimie’s unconscious racism is still showing, we REALLY NEED TO CALL IT OUT.
(just saying, pointing out her unconscious privilege and discussing the issue isn’t us “villainizing” or “cancelling” aimie. more than anything, i think discussing this issue might help educate her, consequently making her change, and that’s kinda the end goal here. aimie can change, but she won’t change if we just ignore her actions and wait for this thing to pass over.)
