If you look closely you can spot some baby geese
At The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
I went swimming in a lake in Alaska today and it was the most alive I’ve felt in years. As I was swimming, a significant part of me ached to keep going. I wanted to soak in the thrill of being alive with an unsustainable ferocity. I wanted to become the water, to become this marveled thing of beauty. I want to be luring and deep and calm and exhilarating. I want to fill people with awe like the lake and to exist just as elegantly in the absence of admiration. I wanted to swim without looking behind me, and I didn’t want to reach the other side. As much as I yearned for all of this, other parts of me wanted to see Denali, to eat honeycomb, to feel the clover beneath my feet again. I left the water and the bliss of freedom dripped from my fingertips and I rang it from my hair.
