4. did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
elechi amadi (the concubine, very highly recommend), stefan zweig (a chess story), bruno schulz and rilke, i enjoyed all of their writing tremendously. i didn't "discover" these people, but i read my first gabriel garcía márquez(!!!!) and joan didion this year.
17. did any books surprise you with how good they were?
franny and zooey for sure... absolutely did not expect to fall head over heels (unfortunately) with j.d. sallinger's writing... i also reread the prophet by kahlil gibran and appreciated it a lot more than when i first went through it.
22. what’s the longest book you read?
apparently it's dracula (but i mostly read that through dracula daily) and daughter of the moon goddess at 512 pages.
