“multiple systems have come together to supply aid for the hapes cluster after an attack by an unknown force that destroyed a majority of their fleet, causing disruptions for both medical and food supplies to get to the planet.  it is unknown at this time just how big the death toll hapes is witnessing.  many republic senators who attended the alliance signing have not checked-in or have released statements of being wounded. among those on the list of wounded, we have prominent rebellion figures such as han solo and hera syndulla, as well as chancellor mon mothma. 

the holonet news network is following this story as closely as we can with one of our own, alton kastle, who was at the event itself when it all went down.  please stay tuned as we switch over to him now.”

the camera panned to a serious alton kastle standing in front of the hapes royal palace, burned ruins in the background.  in the distance, viewers could still see the smoldering black remains of the shipyards with various ship models from different planetary alliances.  before alton had the chance to speak, a dark shadow suddenly came into frame, black overtaking the screen as the connection was cut.  across the galaxy, screens showed two ominous words: signal lost. 

finally, minutes later, the connection stabilized. a tall grey-skinned non-human appeared, snarling its words across the screen. 

“all living creatures serve the yuuzhan vong, and we serve the gods.  your civilization is built on abominations and filled with filth.  we will cleanse this galaxy of its filth one way or another.”

the screen cut back to the holonets news anchor team in front of the palace.  an ominous red glow started to appear on the screen, hell breaking loose on the hapes consortium once more as streams of lava from the unknown ship started to rain down on the entire area.  the agonized screams were haunting until audio cut out, leaving silence until the feed cut once more.  signal lost.  nothing living remained. 

at the same time as this pointed attack, ships throughout the galaxy responsible for relaying communication were destroyed until nothing but rubble floated through empty space.  planets much like jalindi, lothal, & nevarro had their communication relay fields bombarded, like the hapes royal palace. 

will the new republic be able to join forces in full with its long-time enemy the empire and first-order remnants in order to overcome such a large-scale attack?  especially one that has largely taken out the galactic communications system?  will people from such different backgrounds be able to band together to repair or create new ways of communication?

while on other planets, short-distance communication to others on the same planet would be possible for short lengths of time, no communication to other planets is possible. ship ports are barely functioning to allow ships to land without crashes. working together to gather supplies to fix the relay fields, such as through scavenging scrapper planets like bracca or jakku, may be the galaxy’s only hope to restoring communication in a timely manner.

rae   surveyed   the   room   coolly,   taking   note   of   hapan   and   new   republic   officials   alike.   this   was   a   night   of   BUSINESS   and   she   was   not   going   to   be   drawn   into   any   confrontation   that   she   was   not   prepared   for.   her   gaze   settled   on   a   sharply   dressed   redhead   that   she   did   not   recognize   and   her   brows   lifted.   he   looked   --   like   BRENDOL.   they   had   the   same   features   and   the   same   flinty   eyes.   she   had   been   hearing   some   whispers   about   brendol   hux   recently,   enough   to   make   this   INTERESTING.  

she   walked   up   to   him   without   so   much   as   a   flicker   of   concern,   the   sound   of   her   perfectly   polished   boots   clicking   on   the   tile   floor   ringing   out   loudly.   ❛   hux.   ❜   it   was   a   risky   ASSUMPTION   but   she   sounded   entirely   confident   in   it.

there was a stiffness to this event, the unsettling feeling that they didn’t belong despite the fact that they had entered without sneaking around. perhaps she should have stuck with just the supply run for the children. there was a glass that she wouldn’t drink in her hand, certainly not after the new republic fundraiser event, but mostly for appearances. gaze shifting through the crowd, this wasn’t the kind of familiarity that she expected to be confronting with. of course, something like this undoubtedly was more of eighth brother’s style than their own. “i’m starting to think you might be stalking me.” far from it. trilla had all but disappeared the last few months.

The temple was vast. Far greater than anything Del had really wanted to put back in memory but inside, it had been absolutely breathtaking. The architecture work had been beautifully crafted and Del simply wanted to run his fingers along each beam, each exposed piece of wall. He wanted to admire his surroundings more than the people that inhabited it, but he was a man of curiosity and an infinity for drinking in everything else in his path. The people, some he had recognized from his days spent with the Republic. Friends, comrades, people he had only seen in passing who knew him by the squad he was aligned with. Others, he simply had only heard of or seen upon a holocron. Yet, Del made note of each of them. If he was going to be mingling with both sides during a party, he might as well keep his wits about him, not only that, but he needed to stay on guard, always on his toes. Always ready for battle. Still, he makes his way slowly to the place holding the drinks, reaching out and taking a flute of liquid with a small smile upon his face. "Some party, huh?" He questions a little, nothing more than idle conversation to get something started with whoever was near and listening. "Never expected to be at such a thing or even in a temple like this but I presume there's a first time for everything."

leia looked grateful as she spotted iden in the crowd, making a beeline for her & putting a hand on her arm. “almost everyone here is acting strangely, right ? it isn’t just me ? “ it felt insane to say that everyone was acting high, but ... it certainly seemed like that. she doubted that half of the senate was secretly passing a joint around the party.

          ❝i have a bad feeling about this❞ obi-wan whispered to himself as he adjusted his cloak to try and cover his mouth and nose, while his ship was only a few klicks away, turning back was not an option, not at the rate his throat was burning, his only hope was that whatever was causing it worked through inhalation and not contact, otherwise he would never make it to the listening post. when concerns about the loss of communication with belkadan reached the new republic, the jedi order agreed to help, or obi-wan had agreed to help. maybe he was just trying to run away from everything that was happening around him, but a trip to the outer rim seemed like a good opportunity to clear his head. perhaps if he had not been so distracted by his thoughts he would’ve noticed he was not alone.

          it had taken jyn by surprise to be appointed for a mission of such importance, despite what she had accomplished in the nearly two years with the rebellion since she came back to life, jyn still felt like people gave her credit for something she hadn’t earned. rogue one had lived and died for the battle at scarif, and jyn could do nothing but carry them in her heart. as she listened to the mission specs, she was relieved to learn that the military strategy was coming from a fulcrum agent. the codename brought a smile to her face, while she had yet to met this agent, she could not help but think of cassian and kallus. 

        jyn approached the hangar as the squadron finished up getting ready, she was anxious to meet this fulcrum agent, and learn what tactics they had planned for the mission. she walked towards them and announced herself before getting too close, ❝major jyn erso at your service❞ jyn now understood why the agent had been assigned to the mission, even from behind their posture screamed military, ❝squadron’s almost ready sir.❞

everyone’s attention had halted when the troopers guarding mas amedda were killed. one moment, she had been fussing over ahsoka’s dress, and the next... everything around them had fallen apart. she’d been persistent that there was still good in him, that he wasn’t too far gone, and with a fell swoop, he seemed determined to prove her wrong. he wouldn’t execute the empire. he wanted to lead it.

for a sickly moment, padmé turned numb. horror befell her features –– normally so composed in the public sphere, having spent years perfecting every aspect of her presentation to the galaxy at large as a queen and as a senator –– yet none of that training nor expertise mattered. painted lips parted and she was nearly as white as the foundation dusted across her skin. so many nightmares had plagued her since had had come back, nightmares or... things that she just didn’t remember, that she’d been told happened. all of them had been horrific. yet the depths of her mind had not been capable of producing anything so terrible as what she saw play out in front of her, or what it indicated for the future of the man that she loved. they had all already known that he was lost, but for him to be so far gone?

but the moment passed.

padmé seethed, rage turning her cheeks hot. amidala had always been too professional for such an obtrusive anger, but under the helm of a masquerade, with ahsoka the only one in the immediate vicinity who could recognize her –– fury made her blood boil. in her mind’s eye, there was only one clear, feasible path to follow down. of course, it was the most dangerous one. her hands were already grasping at the skirt of her dress, ready to tear it off for the functional jumpsuit beneath, feet moving toward the exit. “i have to go after him.”
