Cormorant in Yucatan, Mexico. Not sure whether this is a double-crested (Phalacrocorax) or a neotropic (Phalacrocorax brasilianus). Apparently one way to distinguish the juveniles is to look at supra-loral region; it doesn't look especially feathered so I'm leaning toward double-crested. The two species are closely related and form a sister group to the flightless Galapagos cormorant (Phalacrocorax harrisi), which diverged from flighted kin about 2 mya, I think.
