Queen Aalis, in a new medieval fantasy setting since... i didnt have one.

her husband is an anxious soft king, and they were arranged to be married to forge an alliance for their kingdoms.

She leads the army, and in the evenings they relax by the fire discussing strategy while her husband knits/sews/patches her battle clothing. They are cute and in love eventually.

Most of her life, she was the younger child of a minor kings-consort, and thus not destined for great things, until her older half siblings were .... no longer able to continue the succession, her older sister became queen of her home kingdom, and she was married off into a new one. 

Their mother, The Mother of Knives (her new title according to her station as mother of ruling class children) accompanied Aalis to their new home.
