Just watched Ultramechatron — what a delight. Galatax really is OP. I tried to return to procreate’s tinderbox brush and I kind of hate it, but!! Trying new things is rumored to be good for me

Am I crazy for thinking that Ultramechatron Team Go Episode 9 is a masterpiece?
Brennan imbues Galatax with such honest humanity and portrays this wild over-the-top character with such sincerity that I find him shockingly relatable. His chemistry with the amazing Angela Fornero, who plays Jillian, is perfect. They're genuinely so charming together. The way they tease each other at the bar feels so naturally flirty, and by the time they kiss ten minutes in I was cheering.
It was written by Jess Ross and directed by Ryan Anthony Martin, and it is legitimately a 20 minute short film about a strange man dressed in ridiculous clothes with face paint and anime hair who talks like Tim Curry in Rocky Horror falling in love with his co-worker. It fits that trend of 2010s indie films where an odd guy meets a woman who looks past his bizarre qualities and they fall in love.
After 8 episodes of comedic nonsense this is such a grounded piece of storytelling and even the colour-grading suggests that. Everything has that subdued colour with lots of warm lighting like an indie film. Their argument scene is so good, and during Galatax's monologue apologizing to Jillian, Brennan manages to inject such pathos into a character that is so silly on the surface. It's a really, truly amazing piece of film-making from Jess's script, Ryan's directing, Brennan and Angela's acting to Michael Kerns and Becca Scott's supporting roles, the editing and music. It's pitch perfect. You might label it a spoof but it is such a well-executed spoof that it functions as a legitimately excellent entry into the genre it's spoofing.
Absolutely obsessed with this scene btw
