SHIPPING QUESTIONS PLS: 1 through 4. ♥
Sorry this took so long.
1. Talk about the first ship you ever had.
While I was always the type of person who was very interested in whether or not the characters for whom I was rooting would get together, I would say that I became a full-fledged shipper after receiving the first Harry Potter book on Christmas the year I turned twelve.
Harry/Hermione took over my life. I read and reread the books, bookmarked relevant pages, had long discussions with my friends over when the two of them would happen.
Suffice to say, I really didn't like book 6 (as a matter of fact, it's the only HP book I read only once). I felt angry and betrayed and looking back, it was a stroke of luck I didn't have a regular access to internet (nor language skills to engage in debates) because the immature me back then? Would have jumped straight into the middle of the shipping war that had been happening. So instead I went on a reading spree of Snape/Hermione fics... And no, I have no idea why that was my reaction to HBP :D
While I enjoyed book 7 more than 6, I was still dissatisfied with the ending and soon enough, the fanfictions that had the beautiful EWE abbreviation in the summaries were some of my favourites. And Harry/Hermione still remains one of my top Hermione ships, although I have branched out since then. Although Hermione and Ron are the one pairing I avoid like hell. Sorry, not sorry. In my eyes, they didn't suit at all.
2. Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life.
A complicated question but if we take into consideration the fact that shipping is firmly tied with fanfiction in my mind and the most important doesn’t necessarily mean most favourite, I would say it were these:
Sam/Jack from Stargate SG-1. I discovered fanfiction through this pairing (after the initial confusion of 'when did this story happen, I don't remember such an episode at all').
Vincent/Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII. It was my first taste of writing a pairing that had more hints than substance in the canon material so it was fairly challenging.
And finally, Mystogan and Erza Knigthwalker from Fairy Tail. That was the first time I founded a ship. I don't think it's conceited to say that if it weren't for the fact that I was stubborn enough in the summer of 2010 to push a vague idea of this pairing, the way it looks today would be very different. I guided its first steps, shaped the first ideas and it makes that pairing mine in a way no other pairing can ever be.
3. What’s your current OTP?
The love square in Miraculous Ladybug. Adrinette|Ladynoir|Marichat|Ladrien, each side holds a certain appeal to me. It's basically four ships for the price of one, it's ridiculously cute, there's a lot of angst potential but a happy ending is almost a certainty. What's not to love? And there are some very HQ fanfics out there. Not to mention fanart.
4. What’s your current NOTP?
The same as has been for the past two years - Hook and Emma from OUAT. It's a badly written ship that promotes some really dangerous things as being romantic and some of its shippers are the most unpleasant and obnoxious beings I have ever had the displeasure to encounter online.
Thank you for asking <3
