Summary: Legolas returned to that bar in Mitheithel thirteen years later, ready to win [Y/N]’s heart again at her eighteens.
Melitse – darling, sweetheart
He had waited patiently and it was the moment to get her. He would go to Mitheithel and make her fall in love with him again. He needed her. Even though he was nervous that maybe she wouldn’t remember him, his excitement to see her again was stronger.
“You’re going for her” Thranduil affirmed, looking how his son was getting ready with a smile.
“At last” he just replied.
“I hope you can bring her back. I never have admitted it out loud, but the castle misses her, the people miss her, and I do, too” he confessed, Legolas was in shock “So, go, ion nín, I wish you the best of luck” he finished, and Legolas nodded towards him.
“Thank you, father. I promise that [Y/N] will be here again” he rode his horse and disappeared between the trees.
The journey was long, four days in horse, but it was worthy. When he arrived, he run to the bar, looking for her. Her mother was in the bar top, she was a little bit older, more wrinkles had appeared in her face. But [Y/N] was nowhere to be seen, so he approached her mother.
“Good morning, madam” he greeted, and she looked at him astonished, she had recognised him.
“Prince Legolas, is an honour seeing you again” she bowed “What can I do for you?”
“Actually, I was searching [Y/N]” he said, he wasn’t going to concealed, he needed her, now.
“[Y/N]? Why would you need her, if I can ask, my lord?” she asked, concerned.
“I need to talk to her, is important” he simply said, and she nodded.
“All right, my lord, I’ll go for her. Wait here, if you pleased” then, she got lost between the people, and he waited there, excited to see her.
Not too much long after, she approached him again, this time, a young woman followed her. Her [h/l] [h/c] hair was shiny and her [e/c] eyes had that sparkle that he knew well. She was there in all of her brightness, in front of him, as beautiful as always. When they arrived to where he was, he stood up and took the girl’s hand, kissing it with affection “My lady, is a pleasure meeting you again”.
“I’m sorry, but do I know you?” she asked confused and his heart ached, she didn’t even remember him.
“Well, we met…” he couldn’t finish because she was laughing, and that made him confused, too.
“I was joking, Legolas. Of course, I remember you! How could I forget the first elf I have ever seen?” she said, smiling wildly at him, and he returned it with a silly smile, totally lost in her.
“You don’t know how happy that makes me” he looked around; everyone was watching them “Would you mind going out with me for a walk? I wanted to talk to you”
“It would be an honour, my prince” she joked, and he was glad that she was still so funny, he had missed that. They walked outside and started going around the trees of the forest “What did you want to talk to me about?” she asked, curious.
“I-“ he stopped, he couldn’t find the words “I just remembered you, and I wanted to know how you were and how you grew up. So, I decided to come and see how you were” he lied.
“Oh, that’s too much! Did you really suddenly remembered a little girl of a small bar far away from you lands, and decided to go just to see if she was still alive? You’re so considerate, my prince” she didn’t believe him, you didn’t believe him. You were smart, and you knew something was off.
“You’re still so witty” he whispered, mesmerized by you “If I told you the truth, you would run away from me” he said, smiling to the ground, he was still shy around you.
“Are you planning on carrying me with you to your lands and use me as a sexual slave?” you asked, and he choked on the air. Why were you so creative?
“How could I…? Of course not!” he replied with wide eyes.
“Then, you can tell me the truth, because if that isn’t the reason, I won’t run away” you murmured, smiling and sitting on a rock.
He stayed stood, shaking by your presence, and sighed. He wouldn’t tell you straight that you were his wife in your past life, it was better to win you heart little by little, the same way he did during the Fellowship times. He would show you the world, give you knowledge, send you to Gandalf so you could learn as much magic as you could until your memories came back and he could tell you who you really were.
“I can’t tell you yet, melitse, but you will know when the time arrives” he said lovingly, looking at you with all the affection he had. Something that wasn’t unnoticed by you.
“I don’t speak elvish, Legolas” you admitted, looking at him with curious eyes “What does that word mean?”
“Friend” he lied; he would need to teach you elvish again, but he didn’t mind, in that way he could spend more time with you.
“And then, if you aren’t going to tell me the truth yet, why are you here?” you asked, straight, as always.
“I’ve came to propose you something” he started, nervous “Would you like to come with me to see all Middle Earth?” silence reined for some minutes that were torturing Legolas, he thought he had mess everything up, but then, you smiled kindly.
“You know I barely know you, don’t you?” you smirked “Why would I go on a long journey with a stranger?” you were wise, he knew it, and he was happy to see that you took care of yourself.
“You’re right, my lady” he said “So, what if the both of us get to know each other in here for some weeks? And then, you can decide” he proposed, and you thought about it for a couple of minutes.
“Why are you so interested in me, a mere human?” you looked at him suspiciously, and he wanted to shout that you were no simple human, that you were his wife, but he couldn’t.
“And why not?” he replied, raising his left brow, and you chuckled. He was really cute, actually.
“All right, then” you answered, finally “I’ll give you two weeks to convince me”.
“It is perfect with me” he said, taking your hand and kissing it “I’ll see you tomorrow, my lady”.
“Goodbye, Legolas” you saw as he rode his horse and went to the city, to a hostel, you supposed.
You didn’t know why, but something was telling you to be near him, to spend your time with him. You were attracted to him one way or another. You left those thoughts and enter the bar to help your mother.
The next day, at first hour, Legolas enter the establishment and searched for you, seeing you cleaning some tables. He approached you and watched until you were finished. You turned around and nearly crashed against his chest, but he took you before you could fell.
“Legolas!” you exclaimed “You’ve frightened me!”
“I’m sorry, my lady” he apologised, fixing his eyes on your dress “I came to start spending our time together”
“First of all, call me [Y/N], please” you asked politely and he nodded “Second, I can’t right now, I have to help my mother with the bar”
“Don’t worry, honey” she screamed from the bar top “I can handle this. Go with the prince to have fun” she winked her right eye and you blushed.
“I’m sorry about that” you said, now outside the bar and looking to his blue eyes, the ones that were taking your attention because of their beautiful colour “She isn’t usually like this, I don’t know what is going through her mind”
“Don’t you worry, [Y/N]” he chuckled “I found it funny” hearing your name in his lips caused you to shiver, and when he noticed it, he smiled proudly. Your body remembered his effect on you.
“Well, what do you want to do now?” you asked, looking around.
“Let’s go for a walk and talk about ourselves. Shall we?” you nodded and you both started talking about your likes and dislikes, about your childhoods, about your dreams.
The two weeks went on like this, and you were helplessly attracted to the elf, wanting to know more about him and about his surroundings. You needed it like water to live. Your mother noticed the way you both looked at each other, and she knew she had lo let you go, it was the moment to let the princess of Mirkwood go with his prince.
She knew who you were, Gandalf the White told her when you were eight years old, three years after Legolas found you. She understood then why the prince was looking at you so adoringly even though he had just met you; well, for her he had just met you, because for him, and for you deep in your mind, the both of you had spent a lifetime together. She couldn’t believe someone as small as you could be the reincarnation of the Elf’s wife, the most powerful witch of their time.
The last day of the two weeks came to an end, and Legolas and you were walking through the city, watching it in a comfortable silence. “You know, I’ve always wanted to get out of this town, I want so much more than this provincial life” you spoke, catching his attention.
“If it is, then come with me, I’ll show you the world, I’ll teach you everything you want to know. I’ll be by your side all your life” he said, taking your hands “Come with me, [Y/N]”
“I would, I would go everywhere if it is with you. I don’t know why, but something tells me that we both knew each other before, and I’m not talking about that time when I was five. It is like a deep bond” Legolas’s heart raced, you were remembering “You may think I’m crazy, but…”
“You’re not” he interrupted “We knew each other for a long time before, in your past life” he said and you looked at him with wide eyes “That is why I’m here. You are not mere human, meleth nín, you are my wife”.
“But that can’t be possible, your wife died…” you murmured, confused.
“You died, yes, because of oldness and illness, but you came back to life. If you look any portraits, you’ll see you look exactly like you were in the past. My heart told me you were alive, and I found you when you were five. I have come to return you home, our home” he said with excitement, tears stuck in his eyes “I’ve waited for you twenty years, melda nín, and I would wait twenty more if it means I can spend my life with you”
“I understand those words, like if I have heard them before” you whispered, mesmerized with his eyes, remembering “You used to call me like that” you said, and he nodded his head, crying full of happiness.
“Yes, cuil nín, I used to call you all the sweet nicknames I know in my language. I loved to spoil you, and I need to continue doing so” he murmured, kissing your hands “Do you remember?”
“I do” you said, tears in your eyes. In five minutes, all your memories of your past lifetime came to you, even the information about you suffering of Alzheimer “Oh, my love, how could I have forgotten you? Forgive me, Legolas, please” you cried, hugging him and putting your head on his chest. He caressed your head; he was so happy to have you back.
“I have nothing to forgive, meleth nín, it’s not your fault in any sense” he lifted your chin and kissed your forehead “The only thing I care about now is that I have you back”.
“But Legolas” you inquired, terrified “I’m still a human, I’m going to be old again, I will go through Alzheimer again, and you will lose me. You will have to search for me all your life. Do you really want this?” your tears filled your cheeks as you looked at him in pain.
“I would do it, for you” he whispered, leaning towards you so he could kiss you. The taste of your lips was as it used to be, sweet. He had spent twenty years without them, and now, he would not move away from them. You both sigh in content “But, because of your loss, our people started investigating, and they discovered a way of making you immortal, you would remain as an eighteen-year-old, but we would be together forever”
“I’d do whatever is needed to avoid losing us again” you said.
And with that, Legolas took you to Mirkwood. Everyone was happy of having their princess back, even Thranduil, who hugged you before saying how lonely and quiet everything had been without you, and that he was happy that you would not be old anymore. It was surprising how Thranduil had been towards you, considering his antipathy for you since the beginning of your relationship with Legolas 104 years ago. But you were happy. You had recovered your memory of your past life and you would not go through the old age or Alzheimer ever again.
“Melinyel, [Y/N]” murmured Legolas rubbing your lips with his.
“I love you too, Legolas” you answered, kissing him.
