You know, in fantasy settings, where Humans arent the only race. Where there are Elves, Dwarves, Half-lings, Orcs, Goblins, Dragonborn, Teiflings, and other such races. Why are Humans the most dominant species? Why do they have the most towns and cities?

Elves and Dwarves live hundreds of years. Elves with their innate magic casting and nature affinity, dwarves with their heartier builds and ingenuity in crafting, surely one of them could take it.

Or what about the Dragonborn and their connection to dragons, making them even more magically savvy. Or Orcs which are far more savage and aggressive.

What is it about Humans that make them the dominant ones?

Its actually quite obvious.

They are the perfect blend of all of them. They have the cunning of Half-lings, the stubborness of Orcs, the crafting skill of dwarves, the strategic mind of an elf, the numbers on par with Goblins and the overall magical know how of Dragonborn.

They are a mix of all of them with NONE of their hang ups

Humans are living embodiment of potential. They live long enough to use their experience to the best of its ability, but not SO long that they become stubborn and set in their ways. They live the perfect amount to be dominant.

On the ‘I am not Starfire’ thing, it’s more about the background that people are pissed about. Starfire is a beloved character in DC, an absolute angel and a bit naive (also a warrior princess), but the comics made her a diva who isn’t such a good mother to her gothic daughter, claiming they’re too different to understand each other, even though Starfire is close friends with Raven, a literal hell spawn with heavy gothic vibes. In almost ever form of media Starfire is in, she has a relationship with Robin/Nightwing, yet he is completely gone in the comics, which is unusual to say the least. And in the old comics, the two already had a daughter, who is a complete 180 of the new one. The first daughter also only showed up in one short series, but people adored her and wanted more of her, creating lots of fanart and AU’s for the family. The new daughter Mandy, however, is a tad unlikable, wallows in self-pity, is too negative for her own good, and she looks suspiciously like her writer, almost too identical, like one would treat an OC.

Point is, people are pissed the writer managed to sell and publish her self insert fanfic as official material, completely wrecking the one thing people have been looking forward to.

Okay so I should iterate I am a fan of Starfire. Always have been since the airing of Teen Titans on Cartoon Network. Robstar and BBRae for life. And I agree with what you are saying about Starfire.

I saw the trailer for the comic some time back and thought it wasnt for me. Forgot it even existed, then saw it just EXPLODE on Youtube.

It kind of annoyed me how many videos were actually about this. And you can tell the ones that were click bait for likes and likely didnt read it as well as the the ones that defend it staunchly just to hate on the people that criticized it. Just made me really sick of the whole thing.

There are a bunch of comics where they take beloved characters and make them act in f***ed up ways. DC and Marvel have done it so often that at this I pretty much figured that this was just another grain of sand. Besides it isnt part of the main timeline anyway so it was much less harm then... OTHER pieces of media that came out recently

But yes, if I read the comic and saw all of what you described I would be mad/annoyed with it. And I think those that have that criticism are warranted.

Also I did check to see what the author looked like and she looks 'very' similar to Mandy. (I WISH I was kidding.) You were not kidding about it being a self insert.

I am honestly not even mad. She got DC to okay her self insert fanfiction. That is pretty Damn funny.

But yea, the best thing to do is not give it anymore attention. People will see bad reviews and then journos try and use it to insult the readers that insulted them and it just becomes a bloody mess.

I aint gonna read it, so I dont plan on criticizing it or Praising it. I was just tired of the culture where people just bad mouthed or shamelessly praised something because they were told about it and not actually forming the opinion themselves.

What exactly is a salt fic?

Well Salt fics are basically fanfics created in order to draw negative attention to a character. Usually acting as a punishment fic.

Now some are tame and while technically classified as salt are more or less not that salty, ‘This character learns a lesson they should have learned in an episode’. In these the character would apologize or simply acknowledge what they did was wrong. Or, if the character is a villain, they simply just get dunked on in a reasonable fashion. I call this level ‘Karma fics’ Honestly, not to bad. And in normal cases completely fine.  There is a level below this called ‘Fix it fics’ where the fic goes out of the way to repair this mistake and have things better because of it. (but those really don't count as salt.

Then there is a level above that. Now these next level of salt fics are the more common, where a character is made out to be worse than they are, exaggerating things, making the character a bit more selfish or cruel and INSISTING this is what the character is like in canon. They get punished and usually no redemption, they gotta live with the ‘mistake/s’ they made in canon according to the author with little to no redemption.

After that we get into the ‘Character bashing level’. This is where the writer completely bastardizes a character, making the character a twisted and VERY OOC version of the initial character (insisting its the real version). Now this is where you can see the writer projecting personal issues into the fic, and the punishment on the salted character is usually very much crueler than the initial reason (that was based on canon) so the writer will make the character out to be much MUCH worse. Like making them a harasser/assaulter or obsessive stalker. At this level the character was likely in canon a character morally good aligned, but not in this case. In these fics they are made out to be the worse type of person in that fic.

There is an even more vile level then the one above, which I call ‘Pure Sodium’. Where they basically take real life events and attribute a character to being like the worse type of people in general. They would accuse the character of being worse then serial killers, dictators, etc. Its pretty f***ed up.

This anon is a tactic that is common in Projection. Accuse your enemy of something you do in order to try and discredit them. The anon seemed to have more hatred for themselves because of their insecurities and self loathing. So they threw every insult or anything they could conceive as an insult at me as a means to get me to react.

Being angry, or acknowledging their insults is a trap in itself. It creates a cycle where I am on the defensive and they can keep throwing insults at me. So I decided I am done with all of that. It was never about the server. It was about trying to ruin people’s opinion of me while putting as little of their own reputation at risk. Thats why they said stuff in anon.

Thot is a slang term that means “That Ho Over There” But it can also be used for different acronyms and meanings as many terms do.

Though the point is because Felíx in the show, is not shown to respect women (outside of his mother) which is why I am using him as the bad guy in the s*** post

Could you elaborate more on being objectively bad and personally bad? I think I might understand, but I'm not for sure

Oh of course.

Well when a show is Objectively bad it usually does two or three of the following:

-The characters act in a way that is counter to their own character without reason (i.e.: They are acting in a way so the plot would go forward. Usually dumbed down, smarted up, act like jerks, act too naive, etc.)

-There is the implementation of a Deus ex Machina (i.e something that comes in out of no where to fix the situation)

- The lesson (should the show be episodic) is botched or teaches a bad lesson that is actually harmful.

- Previously establish canon is ignored, contradicted, or purposely ignored for the sake of an episode ( prime example: just watch Fairly Odd parents and how often Da Rules get ignored in the last few seasons)

-The plot has no cause for why something happens (in. other words. its “ and then something happens” scenario”) Plots should have a relative connection to what happens.

Now for something to be Personally Bad it is a lot simpler. It basically only needs 1 of the following:

-The character or characters act in a way that the viewer doesn't like (but is still consistent with their character or has just cause)

- The canon goes in a direction that the viewer is not a fan of (but still makes sense for the show)

- The lesson being taught is something that the viewer disagrees with on a personal note

-The plot goes into a situation that the viewer dislikes BUT makes sense for the episode/show

-The character/characters have interactions that the viewer does not like.

The main difference is one is caused by Bad writing and the other is purely by opinion of the viewer.
