She is a recovering alcoholic, engaged to the love of her life, Sophia Labelle, and is a pastry chief for a hotel in New York City. At this point in her life, she is a year sober from booze and is now happy and content with her busy yet strangely peaceful life.
But a tragic even forces to return to Edenbrow, a place she never wanted to return to. For it was the place where she lost her leg, her dignity, and at one point, her sanity.
Through no fault of her own, Gale is forced to confront everything. The people who despise her, people who blame her, and the monster who took everything from her. The monster who was once her friend, her mentor, and even a mother.
Will she able to be rid of the Baker or her blood-soaked legacy?

Excerpt:
She remembered, at least, the nightmares. Feeling the cold musty dark on her bones, smelling the mist of rotting flesh and old coppery blood. Hearing the screams. Over and over and over. Feeling the chains upon her wrists, the rust digging into her flesh and spilling blood.
But when Gale was finally awake, able to comprehend where she was and the state of her being, there was no happiness. No relief.
There was nothing. No anger. No sadness. Nothing. Gale just felt blank, not in her own body or in her mind.
She saw the stump where her leg was supposed to be. She felt the bandages wrapped around her stomach, and upon her wrists, and sections of her remaining leg where the skin had been ripped away.
But still, she didn’t feel a thing. No anger, no devastation. Nothing.
It wasn’t like Gale didn’t want to feel. She wanted to feel anger over the police, she wanted to feel betrayal over Miss Baker, she wanted to feel grief for those who didn’t make it, she wanted to feel devastated for her leg.
She just didn’t feel anything. It was as if Gale’s emotions had been drained from her, washed away by the sedatives being fed through her.

A Baker Excerpt Because Why Not? 2-20-20
The phone on the wall in the kitchen fell upon deaf ears as she rocked back and forth. Screaming and sobbing as the smell of old blood hit the roof of her mouth. Metallic, like copper on pennies.
A bolt of pain struck her, hot and unbearable like electricity shot through her and made her weep and scream.
Her belly became inflamed with fire, her stump felt as though someone were tearing the flesh from where her foot used to be. Slowly in strips.

I had to rewrite the Baker as through the stress of what has been going on in college and such. You know, with workload and such things like that.
I can’t be the only one who notices that when things get stressful, I either turn to The Light Force or the Baker. But the more tension I had, the more that I fall into the Baker. I don’t really understand it, and I don’t think I can even question it.
Anywho, I hope you enjoy this one. It’s a bit more...chilling I will admit, but I kind of like it.
After all, this is a horror story. <3

Here, have some Gale and Sophie banter!
Last Line Tag! 2-23-20
I was tagged by @tea-and-pirates and for once I have actually something from the Baker. I haven’t really been writing these past few days due to illness, but I’m trying to get back on track.
I still don’t feel great, but I have something. So...
She was the only one who stuck around when Gale was a miserable lout, and that was putting it nicely.
Mainly tagging for people to see, but if you want to do it, be my guest. <3
