Looking down at his phone, his thumb was held over her name on the screen. He wasn’t sure if he should call or not. He knew he needed to.. but he was far too afraid of looking weak, or being a bother. No matter how many times she said it was okay to call her for help, he had a difficult time going through. But today of all days, he knew he needed it.
He looked over at one of the pictures in his wallet that he kept of his daughter, typically hidden out of sight and tucked away in one of the folds. He loved his daughter, but he felt shame for everything that had happened. The demon felt like a fool for holding so much shame.
Finally, Lien clicked on Cynthia’s name.. Listening closely as the phone began to ring, he slowly put it to his ear. He quickly forced out a smile, yet the tone of his voice was more somber.
“Hey, Cynthia.. Are you busy today? I don’t work today and I was wondering if you wanted to get together and do something.” He explained, frowning lightly as he was unable to truly mask how he was feeling. Any other day he would have been able to do it.. but not today.
