Glen Hansard has died at 56 following a motorcycle crash in Dublin early this morning.
if you know him from "Falling Slowly," from Once, from The Frames, from busking on Grafton Street with nothing but a guitar and a voice that sounded like it meant every word — you know why this hurts. he was never a performer who kept people at arm's length. he sang like it mattered because it did.
survived by his wife Maire and their son Christy. Bruce Springsteen called him "a great musician, a good friend and a generous and gracious man." that about sums it up.
