I was here thinking...
A story where Svet is accused of killing her wealthy, elderly husband to inherit his inheritance, and is soon arrested, prompting the police to contact Mickey to take care of Yev. Yev is 15 or 16 years old and in a rebellious phase, as his mother never told him anything about his previous life. Now he has to live with a father he doesn't know, along with his father's red-haired husband, who seems strangely fond of him.
He's moving in with Ian and Mickey temporarily. Obviously, Mick is having a hard time dealing with this. Yev becomes very close to Franny and jealous of her relationship with Mickey, as he never had that kind of relationship with his father, and believes Mick never wanted him because he never pursued him. In my imagination, Franny has a room in the house Mick and Ian ended up buying after a few years of marriage. Although they claim it's a guest room, there are a lot of Franny's things there because he was always running away from Debbie and spending time with his aunt and uncle when his mother was too crazy. Oh, and Franny is nonbinary and has long bangs.
Yev builds a great relationship with Ian, and Ian tells them about their lives before Svet leaves with the rich old man taking Yev. Ian tries to help Mick and Yev get along better. Mick talks to Yev and tells him he had a shitty childhood and that's why he thinks he's better off away from him. He and Ian have talked about having kids before, but Mickey doesn't feel ready to be a father. Mick somehow talks about getting Svet pregnant "by accident," and Yev discovers his mother raped his father and becomes even more rebellious, feeling dirty and unwanted. This causes him great sadness.
Yev gets into big trouble and is arrested for the first time. Ian and Mickey go to jail to pick him up. Some scene with the Gallaghers saying they've all been arrested and that it's no big deal, but Liam saying he hadn't been arrested (I was thinking of Liam as a lawyer helping get Yev out of jail, maybe?), perhaps us his early years as a lawyer. Yev facing a period of feeling bad about the things he learned about his mother and going to visit Svet in jail.
Yev fighting with his mother for not telling her about his life and how he was conceived. She trying to tell him she loved him and that she always wanted him, even though her pregnancy and "relationship" with his father had been problematic, to say the least. She talking about how she tried to force her to have a marriage and a family with Mickey, but that he never had eyes for anything other than Ian.
Yev going home and slowly realizing how much Ian and Mickey love each other and feeling alone. Franny and Fred trying to make him feel more welcome, and he's a little reluctant about it. He's participating in some Gallagher family tradition (a Fourth of July party, perhaps?), and Ian treats him like a son even before Mick does. Realizing he feels like an intruder, Ian tells him about his dream of the three of them being a family. Ian tells him about how he dreamed about it and that he kidnapped Yev. He talks about his bipolar disorder and how Mickey has always taken care of him, how Mickey is the person Ian knows who cares most for the people he loves, and that if things were different, he would have been a great father.
Yev says Ian deserves a child and hopes Ian and Mick will have one one day. Yev says he knows he was the result of rape and understands that Mickey hates him. Ian explains that Mick doesn't hate him, but that even if Mick doesn't admit it, the whole thing was traumatic. And he believes that even though he pretends to be tough, Mick is incapable of hating anyone, even his father, after everything he's done. Mickey still tried to care for him, and in the end, he didn't. Mick just doesn't know how to deal with Yev and what he represents, and proof of this is his relief when Yev was returned after Ian was arrested following his manic episode.
Days pass, and Yev gets used to his daily routine, going back to school. Mick realizes how similar he and Yev are in their habits and quirks, like loving sweets, hating clothes with sleeves (Yev also cuts the sleeves off his shirts), and both being passionate about 80s and 90s rock. Classes start, and Yev is ironically terrible at math, even though Mick and Svet are excellent at it. Mick helping him with his math homework and discovering that Yev speaks English, Russian and Ukrainian (Yev tells this trying to show that he is not stupid) and when Mick hears him speaking Ukrainian Mick vaguely remembers his own mother, although he does not have many memories of her.
Svet finally gets out of jail and goes to get Yev, since she wasn't the one who killed the old man, but his family hated her and Yev. Yev leaves, but continues to have a relationship with Ian and Mickey, as well as with the Gallagher families. Yev becomes good friends with Franny and spends the holidays at Mick and Ian's house. Whenever he goes there, he says he's going to his parents' house, but it takes a few years before he calls Mick or Ian "dad" in front of them.
An epilogue a few years later, at Christmas, with Ian and Mickey telling Yev that they decided to adopt a little girl, and Ian thinking that this only happened because Yev came back into their lives and Mick could work through the trauma he had about being a father, and now he was ready.
Can someone write this as a fic, please???I spent the day thinking about this after repeatedly seeing images of Noel as Cael Malloy and wondering what it would be like for Yev to return to the Gallavich life.
