Did Tofee used the whispering spell in the magic realm? Cause that seems the only way to destroy magic

Unclear. It was never explained how he managed to corrupt magic, but it looks like it was a slow process, taking months to be completed - at first the only once “channeling” corrupted magic was Star, with her wand which was directly connected to Toffee, then all the magic in the Universe started failing.

I found kind of weird that Star complain to Tom about the taco that he www eating, but could be a away to show that she didn't get along that well with him

I think it was just a gag to show that she was frustrated, similarly to how she lashed out at just about anyone in Butterfly Follies and Escape from the Pie Folk.
