Let me take some time to give a bit of the closed garage (literally) knowledge on this collection 😁. I started the vision board for #GallionTailgateAuto immediately after the #LeTourdeGallion collection. The main goal of this brand is to always keep authentic it to the name who creates it. Now let’s take a tour through the creation and ideas leading up to this post. Originally, I researched Gallion and wanted to see if the name was tied to anything in the car culture. To my surprise 🤯, I learned George Gallion (no relation) was a designer at General Motors in Detroit when he accepted the head design position at Opel in Rüsselsheim, Germany, in 1966. For decades, he was responsible for the appearance of new vehicle models at Opel, including the legendary Manta. From there, I hit up @cymkjuice for the “Juice Effect” 🧪 and he assisted in recreating the original Opel emblem which can be seen down my feed. At that point I hit a wall creatively trying to combine my feel with the car culture feel 🤦🏾♂️. Maybe a month or so later, I came across article that showed car logos development overtime. I read the article and picked what I thought were the most appealing logos aesthetic wise and shot it over to Juice to do the same. Whichever ones we agreed on, turned into the #GallionTailgateAuto conversion. Once I chose the products and we came up with the overall designs, I linked up with @moneypyramids and we shot 📸 for 3 days straight in our company building 🤷🏾♂️. For the circumstances, I think the shoots came out fire FTYB 😂. The Grand Theft Auto concept came from GTA being 1. My initials being ATG just a fly reverse and 2. Everybody played GTA before so it resonates with my following. So once we got everything finalized, I decided to recreate the Grand Theft Auto game cover with #GallionTailgateAuto. All in all, it took a good year to plan, develop, and execute this collection without feeling that any authenticity was sacrificed. This is for anyone who have passions that they would like to making living doing without sacrificing their art. I‘m humbled by the support so far and appreciate every supporter no matter how it’s done. More to come in 2020. - Gallion.
