"Ad Victoriam"

I was playing Fallout 4 earlier today and had a thought about what possessed power armor would look like, especially with the BOS in Boston at this point and the existence of an automated set of power armor in the Creation Club. Initially this was going to be more like an introductory piece, with the Power Armor watching the BOS and the PRYDWEN settle into Boston, but I got too engrossed in the actual armor to do the rest of it.

What if there was a set of power armor whose pilot gruesomely died, or was otherwise bound to it somehow? Kinda like Springtrap or something. I figured with the oppressive and violent ideals of the Brotherhood of Steel, this Power Armor would be incredibly ruthless and violent, but much less discriminatory of its victims like the living knights and paladins are. I imagine this Armor has a lot of stories passed about it, maybe even settlers or raiders think they see it and sound the alarm. I can image many settlements are much more hostile to the Sole Survivor if they're wearing even just simple T-60 armor, due to the stories about this one. Maybe they can hunt down this Armor and set the spirit free, probably by destroying it or removing the fusion core.

I've got a lot of thoughts about this, so hopefully I'll be able to keep fighting art block and making more of this thing.

Rootriver and Stormstripe! I couldn't think of anyone else to draw in with Root, but I figured that Storm would suffice! I think he'd be very proud to see that HymnClan's "Hail Mary", so to speak, resulted in her and their Clan surviving. The process video below!

My entry into @rooted-clangen 's character contest!

This is Stormstripe, a very young warrior by the time he becomes sick and dies. He spent a lot of his time trying to hide his incredibly thin connection to StarClan, avoiding singing for his Clanmates and such. Other warriors his age may have teased him for it, saying he must've been half-Clan since he wasn't as religiously inclined. He wanted to make his Clan proud, but didn't want to fake his beliefs.

I think he would've been one of the first to suggest the cannibalism approach - in his fevered mind, that could've been the only way he felt he could serve his Clan and StarClan (although underneath his fur he would've have been that nice of a meal).

It's been a while since I've drawing a warrior cat (or cat of similar vein) but I had a lot of fun. I wish I did it more often!

ABSOLUTE BEHEMOTH of a job this was. I sat still for probably four or five hours just absolutely CRANKING this out and I couldn't be prouder of it. Stitching together references alone probably took like thirty minutes.

This is a continuation of my possessed power armor idea! This time to the lyrics of "Trials" by STARSET. They're my favorite band of all time and while this doesn't really have a whole lot of story to it, it was an excellent practice in power armor anatomy. I can safely say that I'm getting more comfortable with the shapes that the T-60 edition in particular is made up of, so hopefully I can do a few more studies and be able to draw/sketch them without tracing the models themselves. Hooray!

All done! I wanted to do a more in-depth character sheet but I'm still working back my drawing abilities and I really didn't want to do his cheek pattern again. I listened to the Cyclops Saga on repeat for the whole two hours I was working on this.

(Just a note - his name is totally google-translated and mashed together. I highly doubt its accurate or whatever, but I wanted that vibe)

". . . but Operation Common Knowledge was a disaster. Six paladins went in, none of them came out. There's rumors, though. . . that an old suit of power armor that was active during Common Knowledge is roaming - and killing - again. . . "

After a long-ass sketch and then nearly two weeks of inactivity, we have the major players of my possessed power armor AU!

Meet Aster Herz, once-squire to the possessed suit and now a star paladin intent on hunting the suit down and . . . who knows? He's made it his life goal to at the very least capture it for study. He would be located on the PRYDWEN, having entered the Commonwealth with the rest of the Brotherhood of Steel. At the time of Common Knowledge, he was in his early twenties. Now, he's in his later thirties, nearly early forties.

Became a star paladin for an Institute Raid (the first since Operation Common Knowledge) that resulted in zero casualties

OBSESSED with Nex and finding him again

Then, there's the suit of armor itself - before he died, anyway. This was Sir Leonard Nex, a prestigious paladin before his death. His scars are attributed to a deathclaw he tried to fight when he was younger, and was saved by a pair of paladins from the Brotherhood of Steel. This pushed him to take his rise in their ranks more seriously, at it really paid off for him. He was in his later thirties when he died, but the suit has been haunting the Commonwealth for another 10-15 years afterwards.
