#GambiaHasDecided - On this day, 21st January, 2017, we were at the airport to watch as ex-president, #YahyaJammeh, finally left for exile to Equatorial Guinea. Loyal Jammeh supporters gathered at the airport to say goodbye to their leader...whilst many others celebrated his long-awaited departure, on the streets of Banjul. Jammeh conceded defeat, but a week later announced that he was annulling the election results and would not step down. A grassroots movement #GambiaHasDecided emerged in reaction. Activists initially set up billboards with the slogan #GambiaHasDecided. The billboards were torn down by Jammeh loyalists. Not to be intimidated, the activists around the country turned to spray painting the slogan. All images © @jasonflorio - all rights reserved.
