This amazing #architecture #illustration was drawn by Matt Gruneberg (@grunebergart) and depicts the Gamble House in Pasedena, California. Designed by Charles Sumner Greene and Henry Mather Greene and constructed between 1908–09, as a home for David B. Gamble, one of the founders of the corporation Procter & Gamble. This American Craftsman style house is an awesome piece of architectural design, and Matt did a wonderful job recreating it on paper. I like how the greens of the house's façade match the green of the surrounding vegetation. As this is an Art & Crafts style home (a sub-genre of American Craftsman) and the Arts & Crafts style focused on the use of natural materials, attention to detail, aesthetics, and craftsmanship, the natural verdant color of the house, and simple but elegant windows and front door really exemplify that attention to detail... all of which Matt captured wonderfully. Oh, and in case you didn't notice or can't see one particular section of the drawing, Matt also drew in the cool looking reflections of the surrounding trees in the some of the windows. I know some small details, but since Matt had such a great eye for detail, the elements he included really helped elevate this drawing to the level seen in the Arts & Crafys and American Craftsman design. Stupendous work, Matt. ::---🏡---:: #architectural #architecturedrawing #architecturaldesign #gamblehouse #pasadena #craftsman #grunebergart #architecturehistory #california #historicbuilding #windows #landscape #trees #qualitydesign #drawing #penandink [Original Post: https://www.instagram.com/p/BTNKpAYlpuN/; Artist: @grunebergart]
