“Teach me how to play?”
**********************
Monica watched avidly as Karveth and his second father set up the toraam'kh game board, laying out the pieces and shuffling the cards. Kevryn noticed her interest with an amused twitch of his antennae, and asked kindly, "Would you like to learn how to play?"
Her eyes widened, her heart swelled... and then she saw Karveth gave a very small, very definite shake of his head. Kevryn saw it too.
"Why not?" he asked his son.
"Yeah, why not?" She couldn't help but pout a little.
"Because she would destroy us both, Sh'atyn, and I can't be responsible for that."
Monica stuck her tongue out at him; Kevryn chuckled.
"A little healthy fear of one's r'eyslen is never a bad thing, but I'll take my chances. You see, Monica, first you draw four cards for your starting positions..."
