Hungry Hearts Diner series. There's six of them, four in one sort of set with the same main character, the fifth has a small amount of crossover, haven't got far enough in the sixth to discover if there's a link.
It's a cozy diner. It's set in Japan. You make dishes and feed people and it's not rushed at all.
(Note: it is called an idle game. Whoever's in charge of the PR may have misunderstood "idle". Or I have.)
There are multiple regular visitors, and through conversations with them, there's stories. Some stories intersect. Some conversations you progress by cooking particular foods people want. Some are very happy, some are sad. Generally happy vibes.
Different games have their pluses and minuses. I'd say my favourite game for mechanics is the one I felt the story was weakest
Hungry Hearts Ramen (different characters)
Hungry Hearts Restaurant (also different characters)
Play notes: 2 has side episodes, play these at the end. Or look up a guide for when to play them. This is a bit muddling in an otherwise very solid game.
I've bought the "no ads" upgrade for each game. It's about £3 each game, and worth it for quality of life. Otherwise no pressure to pay. You can't buy anything with real money until the end of the very short tutorial, fyi.
This is my absolute favourite mobile game and so I wanted to rave about it
