The Batter in spore. He’s soooooo cute!
Ook.. I'm going to be real with you guys, I'm not going to be finishing this spore thing. I mean, I will, it's so much fun to do, but I'm not going to finish it any time soon. I hyperfixate on things hard, and spore is a special interest of mine, (which is like a hyperfixation, but it lasts your entire life and is an autism thing,) but making the game work gets tiring.
I will give you guys my spore essay, but I need to talk about other interests, too, because I think you guys deserve a finished thought (and making spore lore a chore (hehe rhyming) makes it boring to play :<)
(POST 3, SPORE)
(This part is background information, and not the story I've pieced together)
For the last post about background, I'll talk about Steve.
Steve is the only character in all of Spore who speaks audible, human words, whichever your game is set to be in, in my case, English.
When you pass the Grox, and venture far enough, you will find a large, glowing ball. Several times larger than a star, but too neat to be anything else.
You click on this orb, out of genuine curiosity. You have no idea what might happen, you hold your breath, and you watch your ship move slowly towards it.
I only suspected that there was more to Spore, because I got Dancing With The Devil, and found that the game might be more than it appeared. I was playing this game for more than ten years when I clicked on that orb. There was never any mystery until maybe a month before that.
The game pauses for a moment. Everything pauses. Silence, static, peace. Perhaps the game has crashed, spore is known for crashing at the worst of times. When was the world saves last, anyw.. oh.
The ship floats slowly towards the center again, and you scroll impatiently down.
You're met with a cut scene.
A small, silly robot, with a goofy, energetic voice introduces himself as Steve. What a silly name, Steve.
Steve offers a gift. A staff of life, which allows you to entirely terraform a planet with a single click. You found him, and in the moment, it feels like Steve is a genie in a bottle.
Joyous, and excited, Steve rambles on. And then the cut scene ends.
The grox begin to attack again, but when you check your terraforming panel, you find your hard earned staff of life.
If you haven't yet learned, the Grox can only live on a T0 planet. Curious..
You ponder for a few moments, and then realize that you did not encounter a genie.
You. Encountered. Spode. The Source. STEVE. As far as you can tell, you met this world's godthing.
You did not know that there was a final boss, and you thank the stars that this games final boss is your friend.
