Snake Pass may be super cute, but snakes are still creepy in any form (except apple-eating calculator snake...and box Snake from MGS). That being said, SP’s a beautiful and unique update and hybrid for the platformer and physics-oriented genres.

Can we get a game about a tarantula next? Those are pretty cute~

On GamePhobias

I'm really disappointed about how GamePhobias has executed the release of their site. I had a lot of hope for this site and so did a lot of other people. If you don't know what I'm talking about, GamePhobias is/was a site dedicated to writing down possibly triggering things in various games in order to make gaming safer for those with triggers. However, they're adding games so painfully slow that I don't think their site will ever become a comprehensive guide to triggers in video games.

I also believe they're adding triggers that don't exist in the games they're adding them to which makes it difficult for those who actually have those fears. Example, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Really innocent game, right? GamePhobias lists a myriad of triggers for this game including gender dysphoria because "The game assumes two binary genders." So does basically every other game out there yet the tag gender dysphoria is not under all the other games that assume two genders. Also this game is cited as involving animal abuse because you can hit the anthropomorphic animals with a bug net. I feel this is nitpicky but then again I don't have those triggers.

The site owners have a donation button up on their site. I can't find it at the moment but there was a message explaining why they needed donations. They stated that running the site was time consuming and took time away from their jobs, therefore, they need donations to allow them to make the site. I understand they have reviews to read, but that's not time consuming at all. Especially when you consider the reviews spell out all the tags for that game and can be copied and pasted. I don't know why they need money for that. If I were you, I'd avoid donating to people making a wiki.

The site has received no updates since October 5th. The GamePhobias tumblr states this is because the site coordinator got a new job and is moving. But what about the other people working on this? Can they do nothing? I know many people have tried to offer help to GamePhobias to expedite the process only to be turned down. They ask users to print out a flyer (appearing to be made hastily in Word with heavy pixilation around their logo) and ask to put it up in game stores. I feel this is the wrong time to be doing that when the site is in such beginning stages.

I respect what they're trying to do, however, it seems unprofessional, sketchy, and misguided. I hope they can put this train back on the tracks eventually.
