Game Design Breakdown of GTA : San Andreas !
Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas is a 2004 3rd person open world action-adventure game developed by RockStar North and published by RockStar Games.
STORY : GTA SA features a very enriching storyline which makes a connection with every gamer’s heart. The wars between local gangs , families , betrayals of the friends , the helping hands and favor - for - favor attitude of strangers set in the wholesome state of San Andreas filled with breathtaking emotions.Whenever a gamer encounters a new narrative output , they are left with amazment !
WORLD DESIGN :
The World is the replica of california state consisting of large skyscarpers , slums , beeches , hilly areas , san fransisco bay area , and other preciosu monuments and luxurious buildings ! The graphical simulation of atmosphere is soothing connecting to the real atmosphere of california. Vehicles are vast catering to the choice fulfilment of player. Narative can be revealed or provide a peek in to the upcoming story through the ue of radio stations , barbers talks , peds actions ! This gives an healthy feeling of life to San Andreas. The roots and level design is incredible making that the whole game is not dependent upon the main character , its also the world the game depends on ! My fantasy as a game designer is to play GTA SA with all the other characters present in the game , from their perspectives.
CHARACTER DESIGNS :
All characters have discrete memorisable silhouettes and personalities.The dialogues and actions of each characters are amazing which makes the environment feel more enriching. One of my favourite dialogue from the game is by Melvin Harris aka Big Smoke : “ I’d like two number 9′s , a number 9 large ; a number 6 , extra dip ; a number 7 ; two number 45′s , one with cheese ; and a large soda ; “.
Gameplay :
GTA : SA is still a masterpiece partly because of its awesome gameplay featuring a range of weapons from silenced pistols to shotguns to katanas,etc, and numeroous vehicles ranging from quadbikes to choppers to jetpacs and various bikes etc. You can also drove ambulnces and police cars and do vigilante missions. The tutorial system is very well designed making the player learn controls and mechs over the course of whole game , just with a black patch popping on the left upper side of the screen. To guide the player , accomplish certain goals , red marked areas are uses. The narrative uses a very subtle screenplay consisting of pre rendered as well some certain realtime rendered cutscenes. The doors of the houses are marked with an arrow type marker to guide the player to rush to them to access the area. Combat system heavily relies on indirect game designer controlled combat with a button holded aim system making the player not to panic while doing fights and wars.
Addition of different fighting styles like karate and tae kwon do also have a deep impact on the immense success of the title.
Other than the main missions and activities, side activities like racing , disco dancing , betting , car dancing , vehicles customisation are well tugged in the roots of the believable gameplay , making GTA jumps from an open world game to RPG as well.
The Missions are so beautifully designed that one can replay the game as much as possible and have a a sense of amazement and accomplishment all the times.
VERDICT :
GTA SA is not just only a GTA game others , it is well perfected and deserving for all the acclaim from all the fans it gets. If you havn’t played it , sorry , but don’t call yourself a gamer .
