What are the steps in level design?

Level design usually involves multiple steps, in this general order: 

(1) pre-production,

(2) combat design (unless it's not a combat game),

(3) layout,

(4) blockout,

(5) scripting,

(6) lighting,

(7) environment art,

and

(8) release.

But every project is different

Lena hadn’t had many interactions with Hana before, she had seen her in passing and at the branch but nothing more than small talk. But this, maybe it was a part of Hana’s culture? Mayhaps something else? Lena giggled under her breath before kissing Hana’s cheek in return.

The AI did not move, choosing instead to run her fingers through Hana’s hair. It had been a while since her agents had the chance to just sit and BREATHE. Between Talon and the threat of another Omnic War, they had been going nonstop. And Hana-- 

Oh, the poor thing was too young for this. She had hardened her heart, straightened her spine, and fought in this war. She had become a soldier. But as Athena understood humanity, she shouldn’t have had to do this too this. She was just a baby.

“I can tell the others that you’ve requested the rest of the day off. And I will-- I can clear off your schedule if your, if you desire such.”

Cool steel pierced both clothing and flesh with ease, tearing into Jack’s body cavity and stopping only when buried up to the hilt. Blue eyes dropped, settling upon the slender hand grasping the knife in his stomach. Crimson stained his shirt; his brows knitted together in confusion and pain. He lifted his gaze to the girl in front of him as he hunched over, raising a hand to grip the handle of the knife when she retracted hers from it.

“H-Hana, I...” he stammered, desperate to understand where he’d gone wrong. Were it anyone but her on the other end of this knife, he wouldn’t have blamed himself. But it was her, so he did. “I’m sorry I... let you down.”
