‼️CLOCK TOWER 3 SPOILERS‼️

we really like how uncomfortable clock tower 3 feels with Alyssa and her grandfather. how he marries into this family and takes it up on himself to preserve the bloodline. how he's controlling and sees himself as owning his daughter and granddaughter. how his need for possession of Alyssa and the Rooder power literally drives him to attempt to kill her and merge them together.

we love horror games that focus on girlhood in general, but clock tower 3's focus on controlling/abusive paternal figures and a lineage of girls killed by evil men in their lives to take their power is so good. like the "harvesting" of a 14 year old girl's power before she loses it.

#like it feels gross and bad!#especially the final battle in the clock tower when alyssa is strapped to the table #it's just so quintessentially about a girl who's paternal figure is trying to violate #while her mother is unable to protect her #and you can tell how much alyssa loves and respects her grandfather #even after faced with evidence of his evil #that it isn't until the final battle occurs she finally truly sees him for what he is #clock tower 3 is so good UGH #confluence.txt #alyssa.txt #<- yes i made this post shhh #games posting

we're watching a playthrough of 3!!! we just got to the part where Alyssa enters the second scenario, we're really enjoying it so far :)

we know the plot of 1 + 2 (we don't remember what their specific subtitles were) but haven't seen a full playthrough of either yet, and we still need to do the spin off one! ghost head I believe

ANYWAYS we really like it, it feels kind of silly but still scary! we also love Alyssa, her personality fits the whole magical girl + horror protagonist that's going on! we also really like the enemies, they're genuinely really creepy

UFO 50 is exactly the kind of game I want to like, but it just... is not for me mechanically. I bounced off of it so quickly! But it is also engrossing and fascinating, you know?

(That being said - if you like NES games, absolutely pick up UFO 50. It's looking like a Game of the Year to me.)
