shoutout to the person i played town of salem with who single handedly discovered the town traitor and executed them (they were jailor), causing the entire town to call them a legend and thank them, and then in the next game quit the first night and left the name of every vampire in their will and went from "wow this person's great at this" to "report that piece of shit" REAL quick
So you know the myth about getting 2,000 mp when nobody chooses a name? Well, I didn't, and a town ended up lynching me because I supposedly chose a name, even though I hadn't and I had proof that I was Investigator. Another time, Moe Lester and Ben Dover kept whispering a ton in the chat. I, Sheriff, voted up Moe for suspicion and was automatically executed by him at night just for suspecting him! Bastard deserved to lose his kill ability.
Lynching a confirmed townie because you think they did something not related to the game itself is definitely gamethrowing.
That Jailor on the other hand was just so stupid, he might as well have been a gamethrower, and it would have made little difference.
Consig spammed the mafia chat telling mafioso not to kill Artemis, who turned out to be witch. As revenge for not listening they revealed the entire mafia D2. They were lynched first.
The Last Unicorn tried to save us and was lynched D4, Loki left right after, Shaquisha left N4, and I was lynched D5. At least one other person and I reported them.

For some reason, internet trolls don’t know how to take it when you admit that you’re mad about something.
Maybe it’s because where they were attempting to make fun of your feelings, in admitting the anger, you are saying that your feelings are legitimate and worth respect, especially if you’re angry about something that’s reasonable.
For a personal example, I played a game of Town of Salem as a mafia member, where, if you play All Any Mode, you typically get between 2 to 5 other players who know who you are, what actions you’re going to take, and see what you say in the night chat.
One of the mafia members in a particular game abused this, then asked everyone to lynch them. Upon their death, their death note showed the names of all the other mafia members.
So, as a given, I end up lynched the next day.
The person, I’m gonna call them SoggyCracker, is making jokes about the situation in the dead chat (the chat where all of the dead characters can talk to each other without the “alive” ones knowing what they’re saying).
I immediately start complaining to this person that they were wrong and that I was reporting them for gamethrowing. Of course, SoggyCracker gives me the typical troll response: “You mad? lol”
I said, “Yes, I’m extremely upset! I wanted to play this game, and you broke the rules to ruin it for all of the mafia. Now we CAN’T win.”
(If at least one mafia member is still alive by the end of the game, all mafia, dead or alive, still win)
Upon realizing that I wasn’t going to allow them to make fun of my emotions, they attempted to make it seem like I was being unreasonable by making the second common troll assertion: “It’s just a game, chill.”
I said, “Yeah, it’s a GAME. I would’ve liked to PLAY it, but YOU broke the rules and GAMETHREW, so now I can’t PLAY the GAME. We were supposed to be a team.”
SoggyCracker attempted again to make it seem like I was being unreasonable: “Then just go to another session.”
I was having none of it though, and said, “I shouldn’t have to go to another session to be able to play the game. YOU should just follow the fucking rules! We’re supposed to be a TEAM, and you backstabbed all of the mafia for a cheap laugh on your part. Well I’M not laughing, and no one else who was mafia is either. We wanted to PLAY.”
They kept repeating the same arguments over and over again, but I kept repeating the same answers. Eventually, they [/ignore]ed me so they couldn’t see what I was saying, and I ignored them back. But, the other mafia members were backing me up the whole time, and despite the fact SoggyCracker ignored me, the other mafia members continued the complaints.
Eventually, SoggyCracker left the game completely.
But it’s kind of funny. This guy tried so hard to make a laugh at everyone else’s expense, and apparently didn’t expect any real backlash. The moment you assert your feelings and show them how much of an utter tool they were, they start trying to make you seem unreasonable, even though they know they were being a dick.
So yeah, from then on, if someone was being a shit--like, in the same manner as SoggyCracker, not, like, I died because someone made a mistake in the game as they were genuinely trying to play--and got me killed for it, I complained. I told them what my feelings were and I told them why.
I don’t have to shut up if I have a good reason for being upset.
A gamethrower is someone who purposedly counteract their own goals. In ToS that mostly means losing (or trying to lose) on purpose or betraying your faction.
